Could Be Better

We all know the tax code is needlessly complex and tax preparation is stressful. I had to amend my 2011 return after discovering double entries for Property Tax, Sales Tax and Union Dues deductions, which cancelled out some capital gains. I now owe the IRS money that I could have paid a year ago, and it's a real pain that could have been avoided. Admittedly i could have been more careful but this kind of stuff should be detected by TurboTax. if you are not careful, the sales tax entry can be entered TWICE - once for the generic figure and again for your own totals from actual taxes paid. The Easy Step process is quite tedious and needs to have some kind of express option. The entry on the form should be shown in a window alongside the easy answer window.
What's great about it: Explore on Your Own
What's not so great: Too easy to end up with double entries

As a busy professional, the tax deadline always sneaks-up on me. I am consistently amazed that it takes me more time to pull the paperwork together than to complete the tax return. Turbo Tax is easy to work your way through the program and quickly finalize your return. The audit meter at the end always gives me great comfort that the program has check and verified the data.
What's great about it: reliability and easy
What's not so great: nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been using your product for four years and it gets better and better every year. I like that the program reviews the information I input and tells me if I am missing important information and tax benefits. Also I'm glad that you offer professional support if I need it. thank you!

Good but Painful

It would have been helpful if the operating systems between years had the opportunity to work with each other. I had a computer crash and had to re-load Windows 7 but ... MS would not recognize the product key code and I had to install windows 8. Not sure its TurboTax's fault but ... had to hand jam all info.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax worked like a charm - - once more
What's not so great: Unable to download prior year return for information becuase of the switch from windows 7 to windows 8

State filing was confusing!

I felt like many of the questions for the State filing were very confusing.
What's great about it: Federal filing was fairly easy for a first time user.
What's not so great: State filing was very confusing for a first time user.

For many years we would go get our federal tax returns done with the leading competitor but it was soooo expensive. A friend recommended Turbo Tax several years ago and we finally tried it. For the past five years it is what we have used. I'm so glad we switched over to Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Very easy to use!
What's not so great: None!

Easy breezy way to do your taxes

We have done our taxes with TurboTax since 1997. Only once did we try to use another software and ended up taking it back and getting TurboTax.
My only complaint was that I had trouble navigating to specific points - mostly because it wasn't transparent to me. More savvy users might not have that issue.
What's great about it: guided through all federal forms
What's not so great: less info for state returns
