Very Impressed With Program
on April 13, 2013

This is my first time doing my own taxes and I was nervous about using a tax software program. Would the program be user friendly? Would I be able to complete my own tax forms not knowing about deductions available to me, etc? Using Turbo Tax made it easy to complete the tax forms and I felt very confident with the completed return as I compared it to the forms my accountant had processed in years past.
What's great about it: The program walks you through the process step by step and you can easily go back and make corrections.
What's not so great: None, this was my first time using a tax software program and it was very easy to understand and use.

Scary at first, but a good outcome

This year I was very concerned when I was part way through my return and had a large amount due. I had to leave it for a while so it wasn't until later that I entered all of the rest of the information and my liability turned into a refund. I liked the result but the intermediate display was a little misleading. Perhaps for nervous customers like me, a box should pop up saying - "Don't worry, this is about the same as last year, it will be OK at the end" :-)
What's great about it: Thorough, step-by-step guidance
What's not so great: Preliminary assessment of tax liability can be frightening

My favorite tax prep software!

Have been using TurboTax almost for about 15 years. Tried other software twice during that time, but did not like it and not nearly as user-friendly as TurboTax. Will definitely continue to use TurboTax.
What's great about it: Quick to download program. Easy to use.
What's not so great: Had some difficulty finding answers to questions this year.

Love the ease of use and clear explanations. The hardest part is gathering the information.

Obviously a lot of dedicated time and resources went into planning and implementing an easy, efficient venue for the layman (who traditionally hates dealing with taxes). It was not only a quick and efficient pocess but but actually enjoyable. Thanks for such effort in behald of this user.
What's great about it: Simple, easy instructions, import capability, populate from last years tax
What's not so great: Now I regret paying tax preparer for previous years. this was TOooo easy!

Problems & Suggestions

1. Subscription price should be less than store prices
2.Abbreviated Quicken might be a nice extra once, but not for repeat buyers--offer other incentives.
3. Enable user to see monetary consequences of certain major choices, e.g., different filing choices-married filing jointly vs. separately; standard deduction vs. itemizing (for both state and federal forms) without repeatedly entering the same data; make it easier to backtrack and perhaps adjust entries; supply references of terms for state returns
4. What happens when an update is necessary for accuracy, but the taxpayer has filed before the update is available?
What's great about it: need enter data only once
What's not so great: Cannot always undo unintended changes caused by exploring options
