Many Years of Filing Without ANY Problems!
on April 13, 2013

Turbo Tax has been my standard for many years.
I had a great tax accountant who handled some very involved partnership issues that did require his expertise.
Once that situation ended, he suggested that I was overpaying for his services and recommended Turbo Tax!
I did a personal beta-test by using Turbo-Tax to complete my return and compared it to what my accountant had prepared. The results were identical and I was convinced that Turbo Tax was reliable and a reasonably priced product.
The process is painless and quick (if I have all the required documents).
I especially enjoy the fact that the data from my previous return will be imported to the new return. Much tedious typing is avoided and accuracy is guaranteed for important unique account information required on the return.
The inventory of questions that you answer is relatively short and the explanations are clear.
The analysis for additional deductions is comprehensive.
The analysis for potential problems that could lead to an audit is helpful in avoiding those potentially expensive problems.
I trust Turbo Tax as my electronic CPA.
What's great about it: The saved information that is imported from last year's return is very helpful.
What's not so great: Numerical entries are still a bit taxing (pun intended).

Using it for years and find it to be most valuable

No efile email. I completed my filing on April 11th and I wanted the amount I owed to be taken out April 12. But because I did not get an email, I thought I might have filed it incorrectly so I re-filed tonight (April 13) with a date of April 15th for the $37 I owe to be taken out.
If I did it improperly the first time, I apologize for the "con" comment. I just hope I didn't deposit the money twice and get into an administrative mess with the IRS.
What's great about it: storing of standard data (personal, etc) and calculations
What's not so great: I didn't receive an email after 24 hours that I e-filed. So I filed again with an updated date to take the amount owed
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax for 2012 was equal to the standard set by previous versions of TurboTax. The process works and is complete. I like the specific questions and the explanations of the item and helo that is available with a click of the mouse.
What's great about it: TurboTax makes the painful and tedious process easy.
What's not so great: The simple and easy questions lead through the comples process.

some of the more esoteric forms that are automatically completed based on the responses to questions had more explanations

Easy to use
on April 13, 2013

Over all, very easy to use, I like the way it guides you through the steps and gives you your audit risk(even explaining why you might be at risk and what steps to take). But, if you've made a few errors, correcting them is not always as easy to figure out as the rest of the program. All in all, as a whole, I would recommend this over going to a preparer, unless you have a second home, business, or very complicated returns.
What's great about it: Walks you through every step, very easy to use.
What's not so great: Mistakes not as easy to fix as the rest of the program is to use.

I experienced two problems.
1. TurboTax did not prefill my information from my 2011 file at all the first try. On the second try perhaps half of the data that should have been filed made it and half had to be typed in.
2. On my MN return it asked me to supply payors MN ID because taxes were withheld by one payor. No taxes had been with held and it showed $0 withheld in the box for amound. It still ask for payor id.

Love it!

I started using Turbo Tax about 5 years ago. Before that I slugged through the whole tax return manually. I am no computer geek by any means, and I never have a problem or questions that turbo tax can't answer. Each time I use it, I think to myself, the individuals who created this, did an amazing job.
What's great about it: It is so easy!
What's not so great: None
