First ever Review of Turbotax 2012

Better than last year. I had a difficult time loading 2011 Turbotax and was hesitant to purchase 2012. I took a chance and it loaded just fine. I was pleased with the overall performance and ease of entry of items. Some of the new features were at times difficult but overall a pleasant experience.
What's great about it: It loaded qwuickly and easily
What's not so great: Sometimes EasyGuide was not easy to understand

Fed Great - State - Yuck

I receive a federal annuity which is not taxed in Hawaii. However, I spent 3 days searching for answers and reading pubs trying to figure out how to correctly file my HI return. Turns out I don't need to file a HI return since my income is not taxable. Turbo Tax should have caught this immediately!
What's great about it: Filing my federal return and MD return was a breeze.
What's not so great: Filing HI state return was horrid

Made it pretty easy

I used it last year as well, so when my previous information was imported from last year, it made it really quick. The down-side was that I had to call my brother to answer a few questions about entering information related to my contract job. Overall, it was easy and I felt confident in the outcome.
What's great about it: Finished quickly

Taxed me but not my brain!

Turbotax makes it simple for almost anyone to do their taxes. Runs through the process in an understandable way. Most W2's load directly in so you don't have to do that data entry. Very simple program that doesn't require a CPA to complete.
What's great about it: Easy and logical Q&A to get you through quickly
What's not so great: It was all good - except the part where the government took my money
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have been using TurboTax for many years. Great product.
What's great about it: Very user friendly.
What's not so great: Could enhance explanations and help regarding capital gains, IRAs, schedule K-1 (re: investment acct), etc.
