If you read the screens, you can NOT screw up your taxes. In my job, we have several systems that are not very user friendly, and I use this software as the example when describing user friendliness to computer programmers. Specatular job, keep it up.

Downloading 1099-DIV doesnt save much when extra effort is required to separate tax-free dividends into separate entries for the home state and other states.
What's great about it: 1099 downloads
What's not so great: Tedious State breakout of tax-free dividends

Still "separate but unequal" for same-sx couples

It's been since 2010 since the IRS published rules for RDP/same-sx couples in community-property states. Yet TurboTax is still using the hack-job it created in mid-2011 for 2010 taxes. Instead of enabling us to just enter our respective information in a single file, we have to:
A) maintain elaborate spreadsheets to combine, and then split, both our income and deductions. [Income is split via a lump-sum adjustment; yet deductions need to be aggregated offline, then entered at 50% each.]
B) create separate, disconnected individual federal returns. THEN, to create the state return:
C) Copy one of the individual returns, then manually enter the other person's numbers AND back-out each of the adjustments made on the original return.

Even though I'm fairly tax-savvy and (thank God) have a friend who's a tax attorney, each year I still feel like I'm assembling some elaborate jigsaw puzzle. The IRS rules have been established for two years now, yet we're still doing three times the work of "regular" married couples. Get with it, TurboTax, and equalize the playing field.
What's great about it: Easy to upload (most) tax forms
What's not so great: Requires a secret decoder ring for same-sx couples
Pros: I bought or sold investments
