Solid Product

Have been using TurboTax for years. I've found the calculations to be accurate with the tax code. However, over the years the product seems to have been dumbed-down and now has too much of a cartoon feel as opposed to the serious product it used to be. BTW, whatever happened to the page comparing statistics in your filing bracket?
What's great about it: Accurate, easy of use

You can wait until the weekend before taxes are due and be done in a matter of no more than a few hours. Have been using Turbotax for quite a few years now and I'm very pleased

TurboTax is great

Turbotax is a very an excellent piece of software. It guides you through the process and does not miss a step. It is also very easy to understand.
What's great about it: I like the guided tour features.
What's not so great: Sometimes hard to navigate backwards.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy peasezy

I like going through the process that covers all the possible incomes and credits.
However, the NYS return did not recognize that my NYC pension is exempt from State and Local taxes. NYS forms should ask if the pension is within the State/Local system. Initially, it showed over a thousand dollars owed. I had to go into the forms and find the New York subtractions, line 26 and input the "taxable amount" of my pension which balanced it. There really should be a direct question or some kind of carry over from the Turbo Tax 2011 return.
What's great about it: Easy to follow question for filling in forms
What's not so great: The NYS return did not recognize that my NYC pension is exempt from State and Local taxes.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Well worth the money

I've been doing taxes for 39 years, and the difference between how easy Turbo Tax makes things and the old days with a pencil and a calculator and a lot of sweat is just unbeatable. Nobody should stress over their taxes anymore.
What's great about it: Easy and Smart
