I have used Turbo Tax for several years. It is easy to use if good records are kept. So far I have never had an audit using Turbo Tax.

Making it Painless!

They walked me through every step. Even when I thought I completely understood it, TurboTax would show me that maybe I didn't understand as well as I thought I did!

Happy with TT

I have used turbo tax for years, and generally am very happy with it. This year I was confused because the standard deduction was $11,900, my itemized deductions were a bit over $12,000, yet turbo tax put in $13,050. I was about to override it after searching through TT to find our the discrepancy, but fortunately used the TT blog and "Doc" informed me that if one of us is over 65, which is our case, then we get another $1,150 in standard deduction. It would have saved me a lot of time and confusion if that would have been easier to determine.
What's great about it: Thorough step by step procedure
What's not so great: Couldn't understand why Standard Deduction was different than that shown printed on Form 1040

Turned A Worry Into A Wow!

As a new widow, I had no experience with calculating taxes. I was really worried that I would not understand what to do or how to do it.
But, TurboTax took away that worry with simple questions and easy to follow direction of how to find the information. I felt triumphant when I pushed the "File My Return" button, not anxious.

What's great about it: Loved the questions and the directions of how to find the information on the 1099s, etc.

Next Best Thing to an Accountant

I've used Turbo Tax for about 10 years for my personal taxes. As an accountant, I don't like preparing taxes, believe it or not. This takes the headache out of the process. So often I wait until the last minute and Turbo Tax has always been dependable. I'll be back next year.
What's great about it: Very direct and detailed
What's not so great: Lots of detail (necessary evil)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The "Shoe Box" approach is EXCELLENT and saves a lot of time.
Just answer the questions with info from your financial statements and TurboTax will figure out what form and what box to put the answer in

What's great about it: All you do is answer questions, don't have to know what forms or blocks to complete
What's not so great: Chat funtion took over an hour to get a Rep Online.
