Been using Turbotax for many years; it is excellent. The way it remembers past years' data, and helps to get all income and deductions accounted for, is great. e-file is a terrific option.
What's great about it: transfer from last year; excellent help.
What's not so great: none
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Partly messed up my tax report

Been using for many years. Problem this year.
Mistakenly made entry in one category; could not remove it; solved problem by setting amount to zero, but should have been able to remove it entirely. Result: my 1040 shows $0.00 under wages and salaries. It should be blank. (I am retired.)

Got a great refund

Overall, my experience was good. The only problem was in analyzing brokerage forms, i.e., Schwab had some blanks in the 1099B forms and TT kept asking for data when no data was required.
On the State level, I finally had to figure out how to delete a form that had no application to me because TT kept asking for data that I didn't have.

What's great about it: Clear and easy for federal
What's not so great: Importing forms from broker led to confusion. TurboTax could not handle blank transaction. State form was a big problem.

Not as Good as Last Year

Transfer of Federal information to the state forms resulted in the use of an incorrect form. Also had to manually correct information on a form related to Business Activity Tax.
What's great about it: Transfer of data from previous year was accurate and fast!
What's not so great: Had trouble with state program.

I found items for deduction I will take next year because my CPA never told me about them. Now I will save documentation for 2013

I have used Turbo tax since their existence. This year there were definitely changes. In the past there was the availability to look at your taxes as you went. This year you could not look at the actual until you were ready to file. This was really the only thing that was a negative to me.
What's great about it: Very easy and good explanations
What's not so great: early review of taxes was not available
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
