Using for almost 10 years!
on April 13, 2013
Posted by: TexMexLex
I have been using TurboTax for almost 10 years. Every I seem to spend less and less time on tax preparation.
I like being able to skip past items that don't pertain to my situation.
As long as I have to file taxes, I'll be using TurboTax!
What's great about it: Import last years info; Compare to last year; Advanced User Options
What's not so great: Takes a bit to update;

TurboTax was an easy, step by step question and answer program that even tells you what forms and papers you need before you start with the program. I have used TurboTax for two years now and am happy with the results. I always have to pay in but I believe TurboTax gets the best deductions because of all the questions that even my old taxperson didn't ask for. Thanks TurboTax
What's great about it: Every Schedule covered so nothing was missed
What's not so great: Cons, I have none

Federal return worked out fine. When it comes to state, it becomes little difficult. Most of the information is taken directly from federal worksheets , but it would be peace of mind, if we know what's copied. When it comes to NJ, TT missed one form to file, and there is no way to include that form manually. FAQ was no help, and there was no time to delay the filling. Why pay for the addition state?
What's great about it: Easy to understand questions most of the time.
What's not so great: Certain questions are hard to understand
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Seems to be slower than previous versions of Turbo Tax. If I recall correctly 2010 was a very good version for speed and easy of use.
What's great about it: Faster and easier than by hand
What's not so great: Did not carry over some information from last years Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax Deluxe 2012
on April 13, 2013

Great product overall, have used it for years to do my taxes, and I have my CPA certificate even though I have not worked as one for over 30 years.
What's great about it: Easy to use if experienced (which I am), gets better every year
What's not so great: Some of the e-filing/printing/filing steps seem confusing a little

Corrected Review
on April 13, 2013

I trashed Turbo on last review because of Import problems. Somehow daughters data got overlaid with my data as result had to redo her Fed and both states. Cooler heads prevail and Turbo Deluxe has been great since then. Convenient, reliable, and accurate. Only problem was I could not import 1099R data but could import 1099Int and 1099Div from same brokerage house
What's great about it: Accuracy, Payment options, Electronic filing," Its Deductable"
What's not so great: Importing previous years data and importing 1099R data
