Very thorough

It made doing your own taxes a breeze. I like being walked through step by step. that way I don't feel like I am missing any possible deductions.
What's great about it: Walked me right through and have explanations of things I questioned.
What's not so great: Can not do just print page. I would like to print the year to year (side-by-side comparisons)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

2012 turbotax review

I've been using TurboTax for several years and its been easier and easier each year. This year with all of the tax changes I did not find anything that made the process more difficult to use the software.
What's great about it: Easy Step by Step instructions

Another Year - Done!

I've been using Turbo Tax Deluxe for several years now and it keeps getting better. I'm a single homeowner with a dependent and TT Deluxe suits my needs perfectly.
Deductions are mostly well explained and simple. You have to do a little digging sometimes to seek out all deductions, but they're there and it's easier than going through the ridiculously complicated and lengthy IRS instructions.
What's great about it: It's so simple
What's not so great: Explanations could be more detailed and easier to understand

First 2012 Review

Overall, I still prefer to use Turbo Tax and have come to rely on it doing everything correctly.
What's great about it: Did not make me enter data on every form that was need in order to file.
What's not so great: Had to search for "Insolvency" forms and worksheets as I received a 1099-C, Cancellation of Debt.

Return complete in no time.

Filing was fast and reliable, the program found my previous return and transferred the data. So if you filed previously with Turbo Tax both last and this year are displayed side by side making easy to spot what you have missed or why there is a difference from previous year. I was a little disappointed not to find more info on how to deal with 1098-MA. I was able to find some info on the community pages. That cleared up and i have entered the data and continued to E-file.
What's great about it: As a section opens you are asked to see if you have all the papers for this section.
What's not so great: Was unable to find info on 1098-MA (Mortgage Assistant)
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Late Filer's Safety Net

The program, whether the purchased disk or online product, really does walk a person through the process step by step. I've used TurboTax for several years now, and I've had no problems so far. Doing this from home is less stressful than trying to motivate my husband to gather his share of information all together at one time.
What's great about it: I can leave my computer to find documents and come back whenever I find what I need.
What's not so great: My colleague spent less than two hours with a tax preparer and paid less than I paid to purchase the program and efile.

Turbo Tax Excels

Turbo Tax provides an excellent guide to prepare your tax filing. Just use the Easy Guide and enter the information requested from the tax forms that you receive. That's how easy it is!
