At ease...

This is the latest I have EVER filed my taxes, and was genuinely worried I'd be able to finish them today. Thankfully, with being able to use and update previous information and a quick look-up in the FAQ's, it was extremely easy to move right through the process!

I've been a TurboTax used for a number of years. I always come back, althought there are many products out there.
What's great about it: fast, easy, simeple, accurate
What's not so great: sometimes hard to figure out in places

Turbo Tax Usage

I worked 6 hours on my atx and lost it all. A box popped up asking me if I wantd to save the file. The page I was on had an error an I rejected the save. I did not know that the program was not saving my work on a continuous basis. Therefore, I lost it ALL!!!
I started over and saved after every section [what a pain]
As for the accuracy of the program it was very good.
What's great about it: Very accurate
What's not so great: does not continuously save your work

Left me confused so gave up and went to tax center

The turbo tax program did not ask questions that seemed to fit my situation with inheritance I had received a 1099-R for, left me feeling confused and worried that I had not answered questions it asked correctly and may have gone down a pathway that I was not eligible for as I didn't understand questions I was asked, couldn't get timely response to my questions. End result was that I went to have a tax company do my return. They did respond/interpret my situation in a way that resulted in me paying more than they amount that turbo tax had computed based on my answers....I felt said about this but that it was correct. Had I winged it with turbo tax I would have filed my return with errors based on how I had answered the questions and paid less thereby risking further expense of penalties etc,. I have felt confident in the past using turbo tax, and did complete my son's simple returns using the program I bought so at least I used the turbo tax this year to do someone's taxes and used the federal filing that I had paid for. Turbo tax failed me doing my own, but I won't have the same situation next year and if pretty simple will return to use turbo tax again.
What's great about it: great until I hit a inheritance that resulted in 1099-$
What's not so great: Confusing questions, didn't seem to fill in the information I needed to know how to respond

good but not great

have use for 10years but this year was more problems. had to go back over several times to reenter information. e-file was not easy system hung up and shut down. would not respond so had to close out and look for file then get it reloaded. i will look for program next year with state e file included. your extra fees are way out of line. will check all other tax prep programs next year and go with best bang for my bucks.
What's great about it: covers everything very well
What's not so great: not always user friendly and state e-fil to expensive
