Turbo Tax Deluxe - Thumbs Up!

Great package that walks you through every aspect of form completion, use and data entry. Auto populating from Fed to state file saves immense amounts of time. Hard copy reproduction and file saving a breeze. The e-file option means when your done.....your done.
Highly recommended, regardless of the cost of the package you need, a great value. Even the most basic tax preparer will charge $100 to talk with you, let alone organize your files.
Use this package and you should be all set.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, easy to follow, guaranteed accuracy, see your refund or balance as you go
What's not so great: Must be able to read english and understand rudimentary accounting terms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

2012 Turbo Tax

Overall a good program.
What's great about it: User friendly once I started to work in the program.
What's not so great: Major problem with downloading updates (manual). Getting them to work was time consuming.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

It is a very user friendly program and does not rely on technical terminology that would have confused me. Very easy to use and understand.

Quick and thorough

I like TurboTax and have used it for years with no problems. The only complication I ran into was with calculating the mortgage interest deduction points amortization the year I refinanced. TurboTax initially reflected all the amortization points as a current year deduction, neglecting to subtract what had been deducted in prior years. I could not find a way of correcting that mistake while working on deductions. TurboTax caught and corrected the error itself, but not until much later in the process, during final reviews. Luckily I did not have to resort to the Help process, since my earlier attempts to search for an interim solution were not very successful. It was hard to find a button to "talk to a live person now, please." Other than that delayed correction process, everything else worked great. Much easier than figuring out all the forms yourself and filling them all in manually!
What's great about it: Walking step by step through only what is relevant to your return
What's not so great: Some calculations are more buried and hard to access

State filing charges snafu took longer to correct than all federal filing. TurboTax has been a much smoother process prior 2012.

Use it Year-After-Year

As you use TurboTax year-after- year, doing your taxes becomes easier and easier. TurboTax remembers what you did last years and prompts you again for the same information. I don't have unusual tax situations, so for me, TurboTax is ideal. It is Fast, concise and detailed. Filing one's returns electronically is very easy because TurboTax does all the heavy lifting.
Subscribing to the TurboTax Advantage Plan makes next year's purchase even easier, and less costly.
