Worst year ever

I would very much like to hear what happened with your disk production process. What went wrong?
I had a problem with the download also and ended up on the phone with a guy from Apple. Plus I had the help of a computer professional.
What's great about it: Assistance from a very sane guy in the Phillippines who gave me a free download
What's not so great: 2 defective Deluxe Turbo Tax disks and the hours spent on trying to load them instead of working on my taxes.

Great program - I have been using it for 20 years. I would never change.
What's great about it: TurboTax can handle whatever I need it to!!

quick & easy

Have been using turbo tax for many years now. Simplicity is excellant. Do not have a difficult return (basic decuctions and sources of income) but, having the returns completed and ready for fling in one easy process is a time saver. Saving information from one year to the next really helps in preparing the return.

I've used TurboTax to file taxes for as long as I can remember. The product gets better every year! Where I used to agonize for WEEKS to prepare taxes...each year it gets faster. Today - just a few hours (including a careful review...and re-review...and re-review ;#
The detailed guidance is EXCELLENT - I appreciate that TurboTax will find the SPECIFIC section of the tax document that I need to decide how to address my tax question, so that I can proceed #and print out the reference for my records, too!).
What's great about it: Easy guides are excellent; returning to edit is very convenient, too
What's not so great: State tax efiling woudn't use my wife's EPIN this year for her IL-TAX e-signature - had to use Driver's License

I have used TT for many years and I have a background in taxes/accounting.
Here are my suggestions for improvement:
-It would be nice if the program flagged/notified the preparer when an item from the previous year was skipped or not updated--before the error check. For instance: in 2011 I entered interest from a particular company, but received not interest from that company in 2012. The program didn't tell me about the missing entry until the error check. Would be nice to have the 'flag' for each section i.e. income, expenses etc.
-I had some issues with rents/royalties section. Took a while to figure out why the program was not adding the royalty income I received--even though I entered it.
-Would be nice to ask new users if they were using TT without transferring a previous years data from TT. Case in point. My daughter decided to do her own taxes this year and did so using TT. However she did not have the prior #2011# TT file to automatically transfer the historical record. As a result, TT did not know or ask about a capital loss carryover.

OK, THAT'S MY FEEDBACK. OVERALL I LIKE THE PROGRAM--IT'S ABOUT AS 'GOOF PROOF' AS POSSIBLE. BUT IT DOES HELP TO HAVE A BACKGROUND IN TAXES IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS.
NOW HAVE I WON THE $100 FOR THESE SUGGESTIONS? LOL
What's great about it: Generally easy for straight forward returns
What's not so great: Needs earlier questioning for skipped/missing information

Great But For State

PA taxes are a pain anyway and Turbo Tax does little to help when there are complex state returns involved. This has always been true with older versions of Turbo Tax as well
What's great about it: Carries info over to state
What's not so great: Interview is sorely lacking for PA

Once again turbo tax is straight forward and uncomplicated. Still requires some tax knowledge on my part re: refinance, K-1s but leading questions are turbo tax's forte.
