Couldn't live without you!

Several areas ask for detailed numbers like in the medical section which takes time to gather and put in only to find out that if you have subsidized coverage with your employer, you can't take the deduction which resulted in a lot of wasted time and resources. Several places in the program where the qualification questions should come 1st before you are asked to go digging for the information!
What's great about it: Process is very good!
What's not so great: Should ask questions 1st to determine if I meet qualifications before we dig for the data only to learn we couldn't use
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

KL Review of 2012 TT Experience
on April 12, 2013
Posted by: KL2485
I own 5 MLP's and each provides on the K-1 different information and/or interpretations of numbers and descriptions. I wish TT would carry me through this maze, providing fields for everything possible that they can throw at me.
In this day & age, most of us old guys need the income of MLP's but I have several relatives that will not buy MLP's (or buy TT# simply based on my comments of how complicated MLP's are #and, unfortunately, how weak TT is in handling them#.
Please focus on beefing up MLP's in TT. It is fantastic software but I spent the entire day today trying to match the K-1 info with what TT fields wanted. It really is a maze, especially KMP. We need a way to input the data for 2 countries #in the case of KMP, Canada & Mexico#. There is no known way to me that I see a prompt that says "Enter the numbers from country #1--OK, now enter country # 2#. TT just says you need to file a separate K-I for each country which raises questions--do I create a second KMP K-1 and renter the same overall initial major data I used for Canada and then put Mexico as the country. I was afraid to--Am I counting the main data twice?
Also, I have a sticky situation. We bought a new home 10-30-12 after a 2 year search without selling #yet# our old home due to my wife's disability--2 story to 1 story. We sold our old 2 story home 2-28-13. TT just completely messed this up in my opinion--I am sure to get audited. The new home is NOT a second home--it is our new primary residence effective 1-22-13. We sold our old home 2-28-13 in 1 day. Bottom line on this---both or either home was our primary residence on 12-31-13 since we owned both with the intention to sell the old one after repairs & holiday season #not the best time to put your house on the market#. TT could not adequately handle this in my opinion. Need a way to handle this situation within TT--I did not sell a home in 2012 but I bought a new one with all the stuff that comes with this scenario #mortgage interest, property taxes, "did you sell a home in 2012?, etc#. Would appreciate more sophistication in TT.
God bless you--I never would have made it without you #I e-filed tonight)--hope it's right! Thanks
What's great about it: The best tax software available, in general
What's not so great: Weak on MLP's

I have used turbotax for a number of years and have found it to always be an excellent product. You always know the status of the return wheter positive or negative. The questions the system asks have been easy to understand and follow. TurboTax makes the whole process as painless as possible. I expect to be using this product for a LONG TIME
What's great about it: Easy to use
