Just ok

I've used Turbotax to file my taxes for the past several years and overall find it very good. The guided approach is helpful and the program is user friendly. This year, I was unable to put it into my Mac and upload my info from last year due to some changes in the software(can no longer run on my Mac). I ended up using an older PC and re-entering a bunch of info. This took longer, though wasn't too bad. I also found a typo, and some of the wording was a bit confusing for a few questions/parts. I'll likely still use it next year, assuming I can get it for my Mac again, and would generally recommend the program.
What's great about it: guides you through things, verifies, electronic filing
What's not so great: didn't work on my mac, typo, sometimes confusing wording

Simple and easy!

Overall, I like Turbo Tax. I purchase the program and use it every year... I have been for close to 10 years. I like the fact I can e-file more than one return since I prepare returns for other family members as well as for myself. The program makes filing very simple and easy to follow. It also provides additional information and links to the actual IRS publications. Most of the time, though, I find the Turbo Tax forms (on screen instructions) are all I need - they answer my questions without me needing to search through IRS publications and trying to decipher their meanings. It is worth the money!
What's great about it: Easy to go through the guided session. I like seeing the comparison to last year as I go.
What's not so great: I would like to see the details of last year so I don't have to pull up the file from last year.

quick and easy refund

overall a grat experience. I have used turbo tax for years now. over all I love the program. but this year it took a bit longer than normal. WIth the mess up of last years program I had to reenter all of my information manually. Hope it does not happen again.

Far from perfect, but usable

This software has remained relatively consistent for several years now, and handles most things pretty well. However, there are some annoyances I wish they'd fix:
1) When you go back to a particular topic, the user interface still drags you through a lot of questions that you've answered already and makes you answer them again. Instead, it should just show you a summary of your previous answers and ask what you need to modify. This would allow you to get back to where you really want to get to much quicker. The current behavior gets annoying on a complicated routine where you often have to revisit many topics.
2) State e-filing fees should just be included in the price of the state software. Having to pay again at filing time is a nuisance.
3) Penalties for underpayment of estimated taxes are not calculated correctly. The software does not seem to consider that taxes withheld on W2 income are distributed over the year with the income - instead, it seems to assume that they are not paid until the end of the year. As a result, the software often erroneously concludes that there is an underpayment penalty on estimated taxes. This needs to be fixed.
What's great about it: Saves time, manages compexity pretty well
What's not so great: Cumbersome user interface, State filing fees, Incorrect penalty calculations

Better every (tax) year!

What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Sometimes erases info while going backwards

I was able to enter information, save, walk away for a couple of days; gather and organize my data, and pickup from where I stopped. This is the critical aspect of the software especially when you are waiting for items to come by mail.
What's great about it: following easy guide is, well, easy
What's not so great: sometimes undersrtanding where you are in the process is confusing

Takes you step by step through all areas. It has detailed "Explain more" steps if you don't understand an area. It's great to work with!
