2nd time using turbo tax. Easy to use, covers most situations. The tax adviser was extremely thoughtful, pleasant, and helpful when I called. While the 90 minute wait was annoying, I appreciated that the online system for entering your question and getting your id number told me upfront and accurately how long the wait would be. I turned on the speaker phone and went about my other chores while I waited.
What's great about it: the live help

i'm just amazed on how easy it is to file with turbo tax, you also have on file stuff from last years return so that makes it faster, getting your pin# very simple= no stress....
we've been using turbo tax forever...

used turbotax for many years and enjoy preping my own tax. easy to follow and navigate to the end and also checks as you move along. the side bars of info and knowledge with highlights, a simple click away to have them answered.
What's great about it: easy to navigate

Simple yet thorough

I've used Turbo Tax for as long as I've been filing taxes. The software is very straight forward. I appreciate that it walks me through step by step and is intuitive about what I need to fill out, will qualify for, etc. The running total of your return is great and the double checking and audit risk meters enable me to feel confident in my submission.
What's great about it: Walks you step by step through filing
What's not so great: Nothing major

Needs Consumer Testing

Even though I am both a retired IRS Revenue Officer and a former technical writer for software company I frequently found myself confused and guessing.
I suggest bringing in ordinary tax payers who are inexperienced with Turbotax and having them prepare a complex return while being observed and periodically questioned.
I would expect the result would significant improvements in the instructions and explanations.
This is distinct from the ASK tab which I find irritating.

What's great about it: For complex returns almost a necesity.
What's not so great: The instructions regarding Foreign Tax Credits are inadequate.
