turbo tax 2012

i have used product for 15 years, it has gotten better over time, this year it was difficult as we sold rental property and it was not an intuitive question, answer session to get basis of property and sale info onto correct forms, i figured out how the program was working and was able to get correct info, i hope in the right place.
the NYS return did not really ask all the questions to get correct info for part year resident.
What's great about it: asking of questions
What's not so great: difficult to find info on rental sale
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Easiest way to file taxes

This is by far the easiest way to do your taxes especially if you've used Turbo Tax on previous years.It automatically merges your last years information for your W-2s 1099s and other income and deductions so you wont have to type it all in again.I love how it shows the running total of your refund as you enter your information! I highly recommend it to anyone that doesn't have a lot of time or money to do their taxes.
What's great about it: Free E-File for Federal yay!
What's not so great: You have to pay to e-file your state taxes boo!

Finished with a little difficulty

Several entries are not covered and have to be picked up by the review process. Some questions are ambiguous and need to be more carefully worded.
What's great about it: Fast, good prior year carryover, reduces input requirements
What's not so great: Less and less intuitive. Leaves parts of forms undone until review.

Still my tax program of choice

Turbo Tax is well-designed to be useful to the greatest number of customers, and I will continue to use it in the future...However, it does have trouble dealing with atypical living/working situations encountered by some married couples. We had trouble this year getting Turbo Tax to accept our improvements to our owned home when one of us has been living at an address in another state.
What's great about it: easy to use, good error checking, steady tracking of tax history
What's not so great: not very accommodating of unusual situations

What's not so great: HMMM. long wait time for customer service.

With retirement this past year, I was extremely cautious and wondered how this would affect my returns. Although I was not happy with having to pay federal taxes this year, Turbo Tax helped me thru the details of filing.

It's so easy, especially if you use Turbo Tax every year - it finds your informaton from the previous year but still has you check it for over for corrections.
What's great about it: Quick and easy to enter information
