Wish I used it sooner

Up until last year, I manually completed my taxes. Using TurboTax for my 2011 and 2012 returns, I became aware of deductions I should have been using but hadn't been. Bummer to know I missed out on that money! It feels good to maintain control of the process rather than handing it off to someone else and to know I've reviewed all potential deductions even if I didn't end up qualifying for all of them. I did have to commit a few hours to the process, but the additional deductions (and hence bigger refund) make it well worth the time. I really appreciate how easy it is to navigate back and forth and from section to section, the answers they provide to FAQs throughout the process and that all forms can easily be saved as PDFs.
What's great about it: Thorough, keeps me in control, easy to navigate, easy to understand

Weird Behavior but Successful

TT Deluxe is an easy program to use and goes through all of the potential tax entry information that I will need. When I was finished, the final processing and error checks were simple and straightforward and I was able to file easily. From that standpoint, I was thrilled. What made things awkward were in auto reading my 2011 data: once it stated my 2011 adjusted income as approximately five TIMES what it actually was and later, restated it as eight times what it actually was. On summary pages where there was a green "needs review," going to the edit pages brought up brand-new questions I'd never been asked previously, but they were critical to the end results. I don't know why they weren't asked earlier. Finally, I was once a consultant but haven't been for 3 years. Schedule C was required to be reviewed and I had to fill in information (all zeroes) about my automobile and its expenses. Why can't TT ever just eliminate that? I have never found a way to do that. The business was liquidated a long time ago.
What's great about it: Generally walks me through all the steps and produces a good product for filing.
What's not so great: Funny behavior and weird numbers displayed, and I was "reviewed" with brand-new questions

Perfect for the "old folks" like us

We couldn't get to schedule C. Had to abandon that area all together.
What's great about it: It goes step by step with explanations. We don't have to remember too much detail.
What's not so great: Couldn't reach customer service, even after a long wait.

Have used Turbo Tax for a couple years. Like the format and ease of answering questions.
What's great about it: easy to use, downloads seemed quicker
What's not so great: Not easy to toggle to/from forms

Home filing is best
