Yippee! Federal Filing Finished

Turbo Tax walks you through step by step. It does the job of a personal account, you gather the information and input it as it asks you questions. There were a few deductions they found that I would not have thought about had I been doing my taxes longhand. I have used Turbo Tax three years now and will continue to use it in the future. The only thing I didn't like is that it checked a box (on the calculations sheet) that said my Church sold items I donated for Christmas Child and to feed and clothe the homeless. I was not able to ascertain where to change this, but since it did not affect my return I just left it. It would be nice if they would include where to find individual items to correct this. If ever audited, I could easily explain this. The work sheets are so detailed that if ever audited, it would be easy to take everything in and prove my return is correct. Bottom line, Turbo Tax is great!
What's great about it: Walks you through question by question.
What's not so great: Checked a wrong box in Charity Donation (not crucial to filing however)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Solid but Not There for Non Residents

I can't believe that in the 10 years that I've been using this product that they still don't support the 1040NR form. To make matters worse, it had been selecting the incorrect filing status for me for New York State for those same ten years. I was given a work around this year that requires me to fill out my information one way for federal and another for state, but I feel that this logic should be written in by now.
What's great about it: Makes basic tax filing easy
What's not so great: No support for 1040NR, Must file twice to comply with State Laws

Great Software

Nice software, easy to use. Wished there was a better way to track time required and steps for completing taxes. Initial checkpoint sheet would hep.
