Once again! Straightforward and simple

Have been using TurboTax for years. Use to take me 45-50 hours to do our taxes. Now I'm done in less that 3 and that's with having to gather some information
What's great about it: Walked me throught the steps
What's not so great: None...would be nice to just go to my local ATM and get my refund

Buggy this year

Student section had a lot of bugs this year--kept telling me dependent had to claim income on scholarships even though scholarships were less than tuition. Noticed I wasn't the only one with that problem. Dependent area had a bug or two as well for student with student working giving a set-in-stone amount for student to earn to qualify whether or not student could be a dependent. May try something different next year.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to manuever

The questions asked by the software are extremely helpful in helping the taxpayer think through everything that could be deducted. Having W-2s and personal info from prior year download into the return is great.
One question at the beginning of the state return (NJ in my case) was awkward when trying to ascertain total income from self employment -- it asked the user to add back in deductions from the federal return to the federal income number to determine the total state income, but the wording of this question was strange and it took me a while to figure out what it was asking.
Help links are great...please add more.
Great program... I fired my expensive know-it-all accountant .
What's great about it: Asks many questions to make sure you haven't missed something.
What's not so great: Probably more time consuming than filling out tax forms

Thorough with excellent customer support

I did my return using the online product, e-filed it, and later got a message that it was rejected because a form wasn't included. The program thought it needed to be included because a box was checked; re-doing the interview to update the info would not uncheck the box. I called the support number, and Melissa patiently attempted several solutions before discovering that it was a bug in the online program. She got me the download version to install on my computer, which solved the problem. Bugs happen, but Melissa's followup found the solution. I have used TurboTax for years, and will continue to do so.
What's great about it: downloaded product + customer support
What's not so great: online product had a bug
