I've been using Turbo Tax for many years. This year was pretty disappointing because of how slow it was. My computer hasn't change. The tax code hasn't gotten harder. Your code just ran much, much slower than before.

Easy!

I've been using Turbo Tax for more than 10 years, that alone is a testament. I have no financial savvy and Turbo Tax walks me through every step. I have never been audited while using Turbo Tax. The program makes suggestions and sorts through the complications from home purchases, investment income and losses, child credits, medical expenses, college expenses etc. I would feel very uncomfortable trying to navigate tax returns on my own. I am always confident that when I file my taxes using Turbo Tax, I have received every deduction possible.
What's great about it: Imports data from banking software - automatic deduction seeker - easy to use
What's not so great: Nada

Would tell every one to use TurboTax. I have done it for two years and it save you money .
What's great about it: Easy to follow all of the steps to file
What's not so great: nothing to dislike. Best tax return to use

Having used TT for years I found that the program is getting easier to use. I have tried other tax programs in the past but TT is the best.
My only grips that I would like to see improved were:
1. When entering the health care 1099-HC, it didn't prompt me for my spouse so it showed up as an error during the verification process. I had no way to navigate to fix this and as a result, I would be prompted for one bit of information and had to repeatedly check for errors, answer a single question to get through the entry.
2. It wasn't clear to allow filing Fed electronically and State by mail which took some experimenting to do so.
3. State was not as easy to navigate around as Federal. Each time you had to proceed through the survey unless using the Topics List. The Federal allowed you to jump from income, deductions, etc.
What's great about it: Usability to guide you through the return process

Turbo Tax does the math, makes the decisions & helps by bringing up suggestions for other possible tax savings. The "step by step" method takes a lot longer than necessary, especially if a lot of the questions do not apply.
My biggest issue is that the e-filing method is almost forced upon me. I e-file my federal (it's free) but I mail my state (e-filing is WAY to expensive). Turbo tax makes it very confusing to e-file one and not the other. This year, I got stuck in a tax return checking loop trying to get back to the state filing step.
Otherwise, great tool. I've been using Turbo Tax for about 20 years.
