The interface is user friendly, the explanations helpful. Much better than wading through piles of instructions and trying to figure it out on my own! And the error check gives me peace of mind that my returns have been filled out and calculated correclty.
What's great about it: Detailed, helpful, easy to use

Turbo Tax Worth The Money

Turbo Tax works. K-1 entry is a nightmare. I did 3 this year (2012), and each had at least one entry that didn't match the Turbo Tax instructions. One resulted in an error that prevented e-filing. There was no help from TT. There was a number missing, and the only way I could get the return filed was to make one up. Can't wait to get audited on that. Luckily it was for a very small dollar amount.
I had a hard time figuring out how to prepare federal estimated taxes. It's not in an intuitive place. I just had to stumble around until I found it. And then the invitation to pay them by using EFTPS was very unhelpful, since TT neglected to warn me that you have to register, and that can take a week or more! Need much better guidance there.
What's great about it: Interview method is very good and better than previous years. It's fairly straightforward to navigate.
What's not so great: 1. Entering K-1 returns, 2. Finding estimated voucher prep section.

Not bad and as good as last year.

I have been using Turbo tax for over ten years. The program has stagnated a bit, but it is still generally better than the rest in ease of use and of course if one has Turbo Tax files it is easy to go from one year to the next.
The upselling is actually less obtrusive than last year. I do find it annoying that I cannot jump straight to -- for instance -- reviewing my individual stock sales, or individual charitable giving, without going through the same preliminary screens over and over. Usually only one or two clicks, but still annoying.
What's great about it: For generally simple returns, even with a few stock/option/etc. it is good
What's not so great: Jumping in and reviewing only specific sections still a pain.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
