overall good tool, easy to use, much quicker than doing all the math and worksheets yourself and quicker, more economical and accurate than the paid professionals I have used in past. Would be nice if they had an e-file option for city returns though.
What's great about it: makes tax filing easy, finds deductions
What's not so great: did not find last years info even though used turo last year, did not import anything - had to type it all in anyway
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worth the purchase

Turbo Tax is so easy to follow that I have been a repeat user for several years and have convinced other family members to use this program as well. Turbo Tax walks you through each form step by step. It provides explanations, gives you a chance to go back to review or make changes as often as necessary, and prompt or redirect you if the information you provide doesn't make sense. It is not necessary that you complete the filing process in one setting. It calculates and recalculates as information is entered. As you enter data you get immediate feedback on taxes owed or refunds. During data entry, you are offered additional options to consider. You can flag any item you wish to return to at a later time. When in need of help, it is just a click or two away. Turbo Tax not only saves you money on tax preparation it provides you with current knowledge of changes in the tax laws.

I've been using TurboTax pretty much since the software was first available. In years past, when my taxes were more complicated (i.e., joint return with itemized deductions, including three Schedule C's and supporting forms and worksheets), TurboTax made it much easier to draft and finalize my returns. Even though my return is much simpler these days, it is comforting that previous years' information is carried forward, making editing easy and ensuring that little details do not get forgotten. In particular, having the itemization details carried forward ensures that I keep detailed notes as to what was included, and where, so that I don't forget to include any deductions to which I'm entitled under the tax code.
What's great about it: Organizes your data and notes; does all the math; easy to make corrections!
What's not so great: Sometimes does not contain as much detail in the explanations as you might wish to see.

Thanks for allowing me to thoroughly think through my tax situation and complete the process. I've had complications during the last two years that have really frustrated me, These complications had to do with change of employment that changed the allowances and regulations therefore making the process much more complicated. I ended up having to pay far more taxes than calculated. Dissapointing to say the least. This year my employment and tax situation was simpler, still time consuming but good.
What's great about it: Simple, step by step to the end..
What's not so great: Missed filing accurately in one segment last year

My wife and I live in NJ and work in NY. We have basic savings and investments. We had some trouble with flex benefits but the office accountant helped out, it's a pretty common issue for NJ residents who work in NY.
All in all.
