quick & easy

wow what a BIG CHANGE from how Taxes where done 10 years ago!!! go technology.
What's great about it: brought back all info from last year!!!!!
What's not so great: in the fix errors part where your putting info into the box on the tax form no help or info as to what they are looking

Easy as a Sunday morning!

I have been using TurboTax software for several years. As an accounting professional, it is the easiest tax software I have used. It makes preparing my personal tax return a breeze. This year I had some changes to my income sources and personal information. TurboTax walked me through those changes with minimal effort. Thanks Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: It uploaded my information from the previous year with the touch of a button. Awesome!

For me the 2012 edition was an improvement over 2011 in that it seemed easier to move from one location to another. Go back to edit a section and generally review the forms.

TurboTax is good, but could easily be better. Step by step is good, forms list is good, filing is easy, drill down to detail is good, help is good.
Annual redesign of interface is annoying and time consuming. It should more easily allow you to pick up where you left off (it used to do that). Ads for other products in the middle of the return are really annoying; I didn't pay to get pestered to buy more software. Transfer of info to the State Return has gotten a lot better, but it still is not seamless (e.g., I should not have to enter my bank information for payment all over again). You should offer a discount for repeat users (which you could figure out by the fact we are importing former TT data files) on the filing fee; if I got such a discount, I would not annually reconsider whether to switch to other products or have someone else do my taxes.
What's great about it: Import past year's data, step by step, zoom to detail, forms list
What's not so great: New interface each year, doesn't save your place in the return, doesn't completely interface with State Return

A Real Grind But Works!

I'd have never made it through all the hoops without TurboTax especially this year due to IRA RMDs and Traditional IRAs converted to ROTH IRAs in 2010 which were reported in tax years 2011 and 2012.
What's great about it: Asks Questions to Put in Pertinent Data
What's not so great: Hard to Figure Where Data Goes After Input
