Not What I Expected

I have used TurboTax for 15 or more years. In any of those years I would gladly gave it a 5 Star rating. This year was the first with most of my income coming from the RRB. I spent what seemed like 2 hours with a very considerate employee who could not help. Finally he called some one a little higher up the chain. This person could not help either, so we went up another step. finally got it resolved. I would never got there by following the "intuitive" prompts in the program. There are actually 2 or more ways to get to an accurate screen to enter data from "RRB-1099-R" and none of them are available by following the prompts referring to RRB-1099. One form said it was but it was really something else in disguise. Good Luck Railroaders.

Easy to use

Good and easy to use, for most common returns a good choice. In past years used Turbo Tax and Tax Cut, Turbo Tax seems more polished though either usually works. Have not tried the free federal sites as its easiest to do state at the same time as federal.
What's great about it: very easy to use
What's not so great: anything other than EZ may require checking IRS or other locations for information on details if qualify

Excellent tax software, includes one free state tax return. Step by step process is very easy to follow. Maximized my refund through allowable deductions
What's great about it: Easy to use, self guided, obtained maximum refund

easy to do

TurboTax was very helpful in figuring our taxes, dependant care, and other deducations. It was nice having w-2 info from last year already imported and not having to re-enter that data again.
What's great about it: interfaces last year's w-2s
What's not so great: some places required you to complete if n/a

What's not so great: Automatic fill in W-2 where salary amounts are the same Boxes 3 and 5 and 16

short questions easy to understand and answer. an extensive review of all categories that may affect my return. I like how turbo tax pulls information from return. I don't have to input data that I don't qualify for. user friendly.
What's great about it: easy to use. covers all avenues
