Keeps getting better

I used to have a family member do our taxes, she was helping us we were helping her. One year "Anna" didn't even have the courtesy to give us a call and setup an appointment. April 15 was only 2 days away. Not being a subject matter expert with taxes I was starting to get scared. the next day April 15 went out got both the state and federal programs and in about 4 hours was ready to run the first review. That was in 1993, I have been I using Turbo Tax ever since.;
What's great about it: Have a choice to enter deductibles or take standard. Turbo tax does the computations and I can choose the result I want
What's not so great: The specials to save on the program never seem to be what they say.

I'm really not sure why everyone doesn't use Turbo Tax. It really is very easy to do. I am no computer whiz or accountant but if you just read the directions and follow the process it walks you through any situation. Why give the "tax pros" that really aren't your money? Especially if you can read. I really think it's that simple.
What's great about it: Easy, if you can read, you can do this!
What's not so great: Some topics are very technical! no matter how many times you read it!

Would recommend to anyone who is "fearful" of the process. TT really has a safe simple and quick program for doing your tax returns and e-filing them. Put in the data and they do the calculations. And you can't beat the cost. I had one audit in the '90's. My CPA sat w/ me thru it. I came out fine. With Turbo Tax I always purchase their "return defense" plan. Cheap insurance if you ever have to meet w/ IRS. The convenience of doing it online and knowing that your software (Turbo Tax) is up-to-date and accurate is very reassuring.
What's great about it: simple, easy to understand, options for calculating every scenario of deductions, can always "go back"and change entrie

More and more expensive

I have been using Turbo Tax for 15 years. I know that taxes are getting more complicated, but Turbo Tax has gotten less easy to use over the years.
What's great about it: Helped do my taxes.
What's not so great: Keeps getting more expensive and you keep reducing your service to get me to spend more.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
