Love the program. Have used it for YEARS! Wish it would carry over the direct deposit into into the state form, or a least let you enter it manually in the Forms View.
What's great about it: quick and easy
What's not so great: Can't fill in State Direct Deposit info

We Expected Better

We received a 1099-MISC for five days of rental of our primary residence. IRS Publication 527 says that filing a Schedule E for the rental is not required if total rental time over the tax year is less than 15 days. There is NO mechanism in TurboTax to support filing the 1099-MISC without triggering a Schedule E, which is not required. This will definitely trigger an audit because the IRS will know we received a 1099-MISC for Rent. Cryptic information on showing the rental as "other income and then adjusting it out" is the total level of support received. We were very disappointed. We ran and reran the program a half dozen times and it kept throwing us in a loop that offered no resolution.
What's great about it: Loss Carryover is Automatic
What's not so great: Poor Home Rental Support

Making it Easy ... but
on February 17, 2013

I trust Turbo Tax but you need to help the customers a bit more with the language used in the questions and explanations segment - specifically, I was tied up on the Mortgage Deduction section when I did not immediately see the question relating to Refinancing? It was phrased "Did you purchase or make upgrades to your home in 2012"... I had to dig into the explanations until I found that related to my "refinancing" as well. Keep It Simple Turbo Tax... I need you to! Thanks again for another great year of support.
What's great about it: I love the thoroughness of the questions asked but....
What's not so great: Some of the language with the questions is still complicated

Getting worse every year
on February 17, 2013
Posted by: Anonymous
I will never use again. I have used this product for 10 years... getting WORSE every year. Last year I had to research the completion of several forms relating to money used to buy a house that Turbo Tax was treating incorrectly. This year it refuses to let me e-file without explanation.
Just terrible. FAQ are nearly worthless
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: Won't let me e-file, no explanation
