Accurate taxes

It was very methodical with a step by step process. I did two returns to figure out if filing out jointly or married made a difference (for my own education)
What's great about it: Charity infor through ItsDeductibe
What's not so great: State filing not free

I found Turbo Tax relatively easy to follow. It was nice to be able to enter additional business expenses. Help guides allowed me to understand how to answer and enter the correct data.
What's great about it: Easy Guilde and help
What's not so great: Business depreciation a bit confusing.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Quick and relatively easy

I got through completing federal and state forms in just 5 hours. Thats a new record time for me. I especially appreciate the accuracy checks on the information I provided, highlighting errors that need to be corrected.
What's great about it: Brings in information from last year's forms. Helpful explanations.
What's not so great: Sometime difficult to back to exact spot needed.

This program worked very well as it always has. I have used it every year for more than 10 years.
I need to file more than one state return, so it would be nice to have more than one free on.

What's not so great: Price keeps going up, want more than one state return for free.

Not as Clear as Earlier Years

Turbo Tax is still a very useful tax tool and I wouldn't change to another. Just think that it has gotten more fundamental than usual in the question phase. Moreover, don't like all the ads for supplemental services.
What's great about it: Still Easier than the long-hand method
What's not so great: More dumb-downed than in the past

I have used Turbo Tax for years but...

I was so surprised this year that if I skipped a category or one input and wanted to go back - it was difficult and almost impossible to make the necessary input. I did our taxes, went back to fill in a charitable amount and the program made it very hard. Also, I entered info in Schedule C, only mileage, and it was totally lost when the taxes were reviewed. I will think twice before I use Turbo tax again, which makes me sad. I like that it takes personal information from previous years so I don't have to re-enter, but who wants to spend hours doing your taxes at one time since going back caused problems :(
What's great about it: If you do your taxes at one sitting it is probably excellent
What's not so great: Don't go back to fill in...

I love the hamster running this site! He/she makes it fast, easy and almost painless. Once I have the papers together that I'm going to need (and believe me, that's the hardest part for me), it is just a delight to zip through the schedules and not spend hours and hours pulling my grey hairs out. Thank you for making this "chore" into something -- well, not enjoyable -- but at least it's not quite as painful. I don't have to rush to the post office or worry that the printer won't print properly. In other words, TurboTax makes it simple. And sometimes simple is very good!
What's great about it: Quick and easy!
