Overall good program, but be very careful

You have to know what you're doing because problems are going to arise. TT sometimes shows as income, exempt income, but it appears correctly in the return. This can be disconcerting to say the least. And, the program is horrible when it comes to College Savings. It is not intuitive and screws up the calculation, when it should easily be able to distinguish between a qualified distribution and a non-qualified, taxable distribution. The forms are hard to handle and need to be changed.
Otherwise, I like the program a lot and have been using it for years. It imports data well and makes the returns relatively easy to file.
What's great about it: Calculations easy
What's not so great: Messes up College Savings and sometimes what's on screen doesn't match calculation

I am using this software since 2009 . I loveit. It is easy and very convenient to use, the only problem is the speed.

It does the job

I had an error. I had to read carefully. I assumed it read one way but it read another. I called the HELP Line and was connected to a tax expert. Before he answered I had figured the error out and didn't need his help.
What's great about it: 1. It will detect errors or conflicts. 2. There are tax specialist to help on the phone.
What's not so great: 1. Errors aren't always explained well enough. That why they have pros you can call.

I have used turbo tax several times with no problems. It has saved me tons of money in tax preperation fees.
Just keep GOOD Recrd all through out the year, and it goes smooth.

I have been using TurboTax for 3 years. I do like the software and recommend it highly, although I wish that it was available in a cheaper download version. After software purchase and e-file in 2 states total for doing taxes was just shy of $135.00,
What's great about it: Easy to use software with useful help files.

Turbo VS H&R
