Best Software Around

Turbo Tax seems to be pretty thorough in the steps that it guides you through to input your information. It is an affordable way of getting your taxes done by doing them yourself. The software was a breeze on installing and setting up for the first time. If you leave the program installed on your computer it makes the next years tax filing easy by transferring the information you input into the program the first time. I will continue to use TurboTax in years to come and save money in the long run.
What's great about it: Easy to follow.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I recommend filing taxes through TurboTax. I have done in for several years and they have not let me down. The process is simple and they guarantee their work. I would rather not pay someone else to handle my personal information when this is something I can do myself and save money with the help of TurboTax.
What's great about it: Simple, step by step process
What's not so great: Extra charge for additional states and e-filing

Turbo Tax is best for simple returns

I'm only comfortable using this because I've been filing taxes for 40 years, and nave learned fom my mistakes
What's great about it: It does review things that can be overlooked
What's not so great: If you don''t know what you're looking at, beforehand, this isn't that helpful

ALL in ALL very easy to use program. Just answer the questions on the most part. Only areas of confusion regarded vehicle registration fees v. vehicle property tax. and how to claim 401K withdrawals. I initially entered the 401K data as income and retirement disbursement.

The TurboTax application was perfect for me. I don't have complicated taxes to begin with, but when you get to the tax forms, that always throws me! I'm glad TurboTax is able to make it easy to enter the info. and populates the fields respectively on all the tax forms for me. What a relief!
What's great about it: Easy to gather information and answer questions. TurboTax does all the hard work!

It seemed that you were implying that a CSRS Annuitant's income is being called a Roth IRA, and therefore subject to a Required Minimum Distribution .
What's great about it: The step-by-step guidance
What's not so great: The section combining my civil service retirement with Roth IRA was confusing.
