I completed my state and federal return without a big hazzle and completed them in a reasonable time. I am definitely getting better using Turbotax each year and you improve the program every year. It saves me several hundred dollars each year by not having to use a CPA
What's great about it: great to have appropriate information form last years tax return filled in for me. it save alot of time.
What's not so great: entering so much information for charity donations

First time doing taxes on my own, found the program trustful and reassuring. I appreciated all the bases being covered in an effort to maximize my deductions in order to receive the largest refund possible. Will be using the product again next year.
What's great about it: Takes confuse and worries of tax preparation
What's not so great: Not much
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax is the most complete and efficient way to file your own returns. I like that it walks me through every step and is available for asking questions in a timely manner as I go along. As long as you keep detailed records for your deductions TT will help you maxmize them.

Sticking with Turbo Tax The CPA wasn't any better

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1996. This year, I decided to also use Turbo Tax and a CPA since we fell into the AMT and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. The difference? Not much. The results were less than $100 difference [in our refund] and I was out the CPA fees. But now have confirmed that Turbo Tax is the way to go.
Only suggestion is that when Turbo Tax guides you through everything, it does not prompt you to download K-1s for LLCs and MLPs. However; if you go to the help website for K-1s (at least Kinder Morgan and Linn Energy) there is an option to download info into TurboTax! I didn't discover this until the very end of doing my taxes. I will know better next year. If Turbo Tax made it as easy as downloading brokerage statements I wouldn't sweat so much when it come time to enter this info!
Overall, I would recommend using TurboTax and will continue to use it myself. Mortgage statements, bank statements, W-2s, brokerage statements all download in seconds from the provider with no hassles.
Save the CPA fees, buy Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax Makes the Complicated Easy

It really helps to have used Turbo Tax in the past. The transfer of last year's records is extremely valuable. Plus, you can easily navigate the screens without having to get a new education!
What's great about it: Populates all the forms instantly and handles my complicated situations.
What's not so great: Didn't tel lme about the special credit for small businesses who provide health care, but I found out about it myself.

Year after year - TurboTax is for Us

I've been using TurboTax for more years than I can remember. Twice I tried other products but they just didn't stack up against TurboTax. I'll never stray again.
What's great about it: Easy, step-by-step, even with complex returns
What's not so great: nothing
