Great Time Saver!

I really like using TurboTax. I used to do my taxes by hand (the previous 10 years or so) but because tax reporting has become so cumbersome the last few years, I turned to TurboTax to help me. I have found that this program is a great time saver. It used to take about 2 weeks for me to gather and record everything by hand. My taxes are pretty complicated and I was initially worried that this program couldn't handle things like Limited Partnerships K-1 forms, stock cost basis adjustments, real estate depreciation, and other things. I have used TurboTax for the last 4 years. The first two years I used it, I would double check for accuracy by doing the taxes by hand. I found that each time TurboTax handled everything correctly. The last two years, I have just used TurboTax and feel confident that it reported everything correctly. It has reduced my time spent on my taxes to just a few days.
The only two problems I have with TurboTax is that it does not alert you to any errors until the final review. I would like to see it alert errors on a ongoing basis and provided suggested error corrections as soon as possible. The other problem is that I find that some of the directions are not very clear - at the beginning of each category, it asks if you want to continue or skip items and sometimes I have caught myself skipping over a category that I need to work on, then realizing that I needed to click the "update" tab start on the items.
Overall this a great product.

Amazing

Been hand filing 30 years. I'm angry I was too stubborn to use Turbotax years ago...Everyone needs turbotax. Most useful computer software I've used, other than word processing and spreadsheet.
Good luck to those who don't use Turbotax, you are gonna need it!

Great Product

I don't know why anyone with a fairly simple return would pay an accountant to do their return. Plug in numbers and you get an answer. It is like playing a game. It is so easy to edit too. Thank you

First TurboTax return

Could not have done it without review by my knowledgeable friend; especially because I had some 1099s.
What's great about it: Not pay a tax preparer. Pride in doing it myself
