Does the job

I've been using TT for 5 years now, and overall I'm quite satisfied with it. I'm pretty sure that paying a tax pro would just cost a bundle without saving any time or increasing my return.
One thing I miss with TT is the ability to easily do some What-If calculations. Specifically, with IRA deductions, it would be nice if TT would just calculate for you up front what your max deduction can be, so you can quickly identify the sweet spot of what to contribute.
The other thing that really concerns me is the way in which Intuit is lobbying against legislation that would make tax filing much simpler for the vast majority of people. Understandably, Intuit wants to protect its market for TT, but from a bproductivity and quality of life standpoint, it would be way better if most of us with not very complicated taxes could more or less have our taxes calculated for us by the government.
What's great about it: easy, generally clear
What's not so great: tedious to do what-ifs

overall user friendly for most who have basic computer skill and basic tax preparation knowledge.
What's great about it: step by step data entry and automatic calculations
What's not so great: may be a little difficult for first time users on how to manuever around specific topic areas

Federal and state tax was simple and easy to use. If you have any questions or concerns, help is at your fingertips.
What's great about it: Shows refund or tax due as you proceed with return.

Turbo Tax Rules

Turbo Tax does everything the professionals can do but they allow you to learn to do your own taxes, cut out the middle man and save money. Plus, they guarantee the maximum possible refund! What is not to love. I always get great refunds every year using Turbo Tax software!
What's great about it: You can't afford not too!
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

QUICK,SIMPLE,ACCURATE

I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE MY STATE AND FEDERAL TAXES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR.I WAS CONFIDENT THAT THE RETURN WAS ACCURATE AND THAT I GOT THE MAXIMUM REFUND POSSIBLE.THE THOROUGHNESS OF THE TAX SOFTWARE MADE ME SURE OF THE AFOR STATED FACTS.I ALSO COMPARED THIS RETURN TO PREVIOUSLY PROFESSIONALLY PREPARED RETURNS AND I COULD SEE NO DIFFERANCEIN THE QUALITY OF THE WORK.
What's great about it: I COMPLETED MY TAXES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR
What's not so great: NONE
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What's great about it: Very Quick and easy, able to do in a short amount of time.
What's not so great: When I pay for a federal and state software package it would be nice not to have to pay for the state filing.
