2012 Turbo Tax review

Overall Software was good. Easy to walk through and get taxes done. Would be nice to talk with someone on the phone if questions arise. There might be but it is unclear the process that needs to take place to get this done.
What's great about it: software walks you step by step and is user freindly
What's not so great: If we needed to talk with someone it is unclear the process that needs to happen. Would be nice to have a phone support.

Gets better and better every year. Fast and convenient. A couple of minor improvement recommendations would be for each section (income, deductions, etc.) as you complete each subsection, it would be nice if the most recently finished subsection is at the top of the list so that you don't have to keep scrolling down every time you finish a subsection in order to start the next one.
What's great about it: Simple, Fast, Encompassing

Overall I thought Turbo Tax was very easy to use. It gave a lot of helpful information and ask questions that help me get the best refund possible.
What's great about it: Easy Directions
What's not so great: Turbo Community Questions/Answers where hard to use, not helpful

Still a great package

Been a loyal customer for years. No complaints, really. For ppl who never had to fill out tax forms by hand, you may not be able to imagine the nightmare that used to be. Just switch to "Forms View" and take a look; those were actual forms we had to fill out, and they had to not have errors on them (i.e., no erasures, etc., and it had to be in ink; no pencils allowed). For a month out of every year, the IRS turned every adult in America into an unwilling tax accountant. Anyway, just to mention a technical note, I have noticed that the program can hang at times when Acrobat is running. It's a puzzler too because sometimes (at least on Vista), Acrobat can *appear* to be closed but it isn't. If you go into Task Manager, you can spot it sometimes running as the acrordr32.exe process even though there is no visible interface for it on the screen. You have to kill the process manually to free up the memory and then suddenly, Ttax is humming along fine again. I think Ttax and Acrobat may have a memory address conflict that is causing this. Something to look into, dunno.
What's great about it: Removes the clutter and mess of dealing with all those forms
What's not so great: Sometimes hangs

Well developed software

Was able to finish my taxes in under an hour. The software was very easy to navigate, all the explanations and calculation sheets were well designed, directions are clear and the explanation notes, the software is very thorough with the calculations, forms, details, and review checks.
What's great about it: Easy Detailed Well Explained
What's not so great: Software price goes up every year
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I did it

I've been using Turbo Tax for many years now. I had to do an amended return this year for last year's return. Turbo Tax generated another 1040 and never mentioned the 1040X which is required. It was helpful to have the completed 1040 but I didn't feel it adequately addressed the process for amending returns. I really had to figure it out completely on my own by using the IRS site. I love the e-filing and was willing to pay for the service to e-file state but there was a hitch with my credit card twice, so I saved $20 and mailed it in. I will continue to use Turbo Tax because I trust its calculations and my taxes are pretty simple plus I keep good records.
What's great about it: The interview process is easy to follow and I like being able to go back easily to edit.
What's not so great: There's a little bit of uncertainty and I don't like to use the chat.

Quick, Easy, and Right

I use it for a normal return and like that Turbotax carrys information over every year. Saves me time and preserves my sanity.
What's great about it: Easy to keep up with interest and dividends every year, I love it.
What's not so great: I have no problems. I wish it would start up quicker, but I can say that about my laptop too.
