Worth It

6th year in a row using TurboTax and will continue to use it. My situation has relatively stayed the same so its very nice to import last years information and compare values.
There are two deductions that I would've missed if I didn't do my own research though. I think a couple more easy questions would've identified these.
All in all, great product and since I set myself up for a refund each year I'm starting to look forward to the first bad weather Saturday in February to do my taxes.
What's great about it: Fast, Easy
What's not so great: Almost missed 2 deductions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Stupid estimated tax algorithm

Year after year Turbo Tax tells me to pay significant quarterly estimated tax payments (which I do not do). Year after year those 4 estimated payments are approximately the size of my refund, so I would be loaning the government twice the amount of money. I have carefully adjusted my withholding to cover things properly, but the software never asks how many allowances I have set for the following year. For that matter it didn't even make any recommendations for what I should set!
