This program made it so fast and easy, especially with the ability to import W2 data. I can't wait until next year (this is my first with Turbo Tax) when I can all my personal data will transfer over as well. I know there is a lot more to this program that I don't need because my returns are so simple, but in the future I am sure I can take advantage of those features as well.
What's great about it: Easy Guide, warnings, access to forms

Easy Tax Program

I have used this product since 2004, and it keeps getting more complete and easier. I don't know why anyone would need a tax preparer when you can do it yourself.

At first I thought I wasn't going to be able to do my own taxes. I was wrong, turbo tax makes it easy.

Great!

As a whole, it is easy to use the software once is installed and ready. The difficulty is the forced periodic upgrades needed to my computer software, hardware and memory.
Why do I have to print a whole page of gibberish for scanning? It seems a waste of paper and ink.
What's great about it: Easy to follow along to put all information.
What's not so great: It keeps needing to upgrade my operating system every couple of years, and it becomes expensive and frustrating.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Painless as it can be

I have been using Turbo Tax for longer than I can remember. No problems and it lets me do my taxes on my schedule rather than some accounts or tax service.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Last year Turbo Tax was not capable of handling international tax issues and I was forced to file manually. Obviously the turn around time for Federal and State stinks under those circumstances. This year, they fixed their issues and I filed electronically with one of two refunds already in hand (3 day turn around).
The error checking ability is a huge plus. It kept me from creating issues down the road. With the complexity of the IRS Code, this thing is "mission critical."
I'm much happier this year with the Turbo Tax product. Nice work Intuit.
What's great about it: Very easy to use. Can flip between forms and Q&A quickly. Error checking is critical.
What's not so great: None this year

Was very detailed, yet simple and thorough

I have used TurboTax for the past 6 years. It's super easy, one-touch easy to load previous year's data into this years submission. I wish there was a bit more detailed information on some issues related to equity trades, for example, how to account for expenses related to the purchase and sale of Trusts (i.e, ETF Silver Trust = SLV). I did find the information and how to account for it from by broker and by searching the Website but it would have been nice to integrate this a bit more into the actual software. Overall, using the product is easy and is one of the reasons I have been a repeat customer. Last, the program has advanced remarkably in the past 6 years and seems to get better annually.
What's great about it: Ease of which to be guided though the revenue and expense maze for reporting taxes. Integration with It's Deductible.
What's not so great: Occaisionally there are some gaps in the transitions between the portions of the software
