Easy for a first timer

We decided that I should know how to file our taxes since my husband has been doing them with Turbo Tax for years. I collected that information from our Quicken files and found all the receipts before I started and down loaded data from our brokerage company. From then on it was fairly easy. I just read each screen carefully and answered using the information that I had collected ahead of time. Unfortunately I still owed more taxes. Even that was relatively painless as there are steps included for me to decide how I wanted to pay the taxes. It isn't fun to pay taxes but Turbo Tax certainly makes it doable even for someone who is not a CPA.
What's great about it: Each step is clear and as long as you have the data it moves you through the forms painlessly.
What's not so great: Can't think of any.

Although I do appreciate how quick and easy it is to use TurboTax, there were a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. As a first time independent filer, I found many of the questions still difficult to answer, the help sections did not work, and documents were not available even though i received emails saying they were. I am actually really nervous about the outcome of this filing. Not entirely confident that I filed correctly and that should never be a feeling to have especially with the threat of LARGE penalties.
What's great about it: Relatively Quick
What's not so great: Major Issues

Fanstastic! What a time saver!!

The capability to electronically import annual tax statements from my brokerage firm accounts is a blessing! Such a time saver and eliminates risk of manually created errors. With the many, many security sales and purchases through the year, the electronic import is wonderful. Thank you Turbo Tax for developing this capability working with the technical staff at the various brokerage firms. Absolutely wonderful!! Also, thank you for the step by step Easy Guide feature when entering information into the various sections of Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Capabililty to electronically import statements from brokerage firm.
What's not so great: Imports from various brokerage firm accounts did not list the account number within Turbo Tax.

the taxing responsibility each year is stressful, hopeful,and frustrating for me. Having a help with turbo tax helps me figure out all the deductions so feel I receive a fair results that I can trust for the outcome. It is cheaper than paying some professional to do your taxes for you too! I use this ever year now and feel I receive all the necessary information to do my taxes in a timely manner. I would recommend this to someone who is trying to save some money during the process of tax reporting each year.

LOVE turbotax. It walks you through everything, even makes somewhat complex taxes pretty easy.
Tried one of these systems back when they first came out (don't think it was turbo tax, but I forget) It was basically an adding machine.
Turbotax answers nearly all questions. I love it!

and I don't see the 'tax people' doing much different than using turbo tax or something similar.
What's great about it: explains things well, walks you through it
What's not so great: don't really have any, except it's not free :/
