Nice product

All in all this is an excellent product and the tech support is good. Particularly helpful was its ability to imort data from previous returns. That would strongly bias me toward using Turbotax, even though I can't imagine a program that would be more comprehensive or easy to use. I had two problems: The first CD I bought was inoperative. I called tech support to get verification of that so I could trade it in, but he talked me through installing it on-line. Good. The program kept nagging me to prepare a state return, even though it had acknowledged that none is needed for a Florida resident. I had a hard time getting beyond those prompts. This needs fixing.
What's great about it: It was easy to use and helpful in importing data from old return
What's not so great: It kept prompting me to file a state return -none needed in FL

Final Musings....
on April 10, 2013

I liked the way everything worked out fine for the federal side of the taxes. But my commonwealth--it doesn't like to be called a 'state'--did not play nicely with the K-1 form for an LLC located in a neighboring state. I am apparently compelled to file a paper tax form document with my local commonwealth. Thus no e-filing for them.
I am having problems moving last year's[2011]--done on my laptop--to my desktop; but not a major concern. But overall, I am pleased to continue my string of Turbo Tax which I began in 2006.
What's great about it: Saved me much of the grunt work.
What's not so great: Some SNAFU's with interface with my state tax.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Extension to file CA State return
on April 10, 2013
Posted by: JackieRG
When I selected the option in TurboTax for an extension to file my CA state return, Form 3519 was created and the amount due at the top of the screen went to zero. Line 72 of form 540 showed that original amount of taxes due as a payment, and there was no reference to an extension. The CA Franchise Tax Board representative said it was the amount of any estimated taxes I paid and that if I didn't make such payment, it did not apply to me, and did not mention that it could also mean an extension had been filed. I had the worst time trying to figure out how to eliminate what showed up on line 72 of form 540 as a payment. Although I can not tell you how, and after several minutes, I was finally able to eliminate form 3519 and to show the amount of tax due in the right place on form 540. I've been a TurboTax user since 1886, (LOL, just kidding; a long time) I love the product and wouldn't use anything else!
What's not so great: A most confusing section
