Turbo Tax Eased The Pain

2012 Tax Program Review

The workflow works very well and guides me through the process nicely. Also liked the flags that can be entered, they were very usefull to go back directly where I wanted after checking into the issues.
Going through the schedule C items and the 1099 was somewhat confusing. Had to go through the whole interview to get to a specific point.
Seeing the previous years numbers was also very helpful, but would have been great if I could have drilled in to see last years detail.
What's great about it: Liked the workflow of the return. Additional information at a click with a popup window was very helpfull.
What's not so great: Would have liked to be able to click to back to the interview stage when reviewing the errors.

Stress free filing

I've used Turbo Tax for years and have always found it to be the least stressful way to get your taxes done. If you are unsure of which topics to use, Turbo Tax will go through every section for income, deductions, and other and then let you know if you need to fill out a section or not. I also like the fact that I can stop at anytime and then return and pick up where I left off. If I need to I can also revisit just specific sections without going through everything again. The pop-up help screens do really help to explain things, and if you need further information you can get that also.
What's great about it: Easy to use and help topics on every section.
What's not so great: Can't think of any.
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

OK , but??

One of the things that I particularly liked last year (2011) was that it helped with this issue of tax exempt dividends that was always confusing when done by hand. It was particularly frustrating to go to that section and keep getting spun around to a couple of screens that led nowhere. I finally put the info in to the program via the Dividend section and that seemed to make it go to the right place, but I couldn't see that anything in your program said to do it that way.
What's great about it: Most of the step by step input is easy and straight forward.
What's not so great: The section on tax exempt Dividends didn't work and it took a lot of searching around to get the info into the form.
