This year I had my 20-something daughters do their own taxes, so they learn how. In the past I did it for them. And presto! they were both able to it them with very little, if any, assistance from me! My goal was for them to be able to do file their own taxes, and understand what they're doing!

TurboTax walks you thru all the relevant sections, personal information, all possible income sources, all possible deductions and credits, both common and not so. It was a great help with the education credits as well as the AMT - couldn't have figured that out by myself.
What's great about it: The software walked me through all the sections - income, deductions, credit, etc. Made it really easy to efile.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax was better this year but there are still interview subjects that need improvements. I had a question that was never answered. It amounted to a small $$ amount so I just let it go but I was disappointed. I still miss the
informational video clips that used to be on the CD.

What's great about it: The Interview process was better on most topics
What's not so great: Help was not very good, it didn't go to topic I was on, I had to search again each time.

Really, it's the one event that is painless with TurboTax. This is easier that visiting the dentist. No fuss - I go to my packet of receipts, tax deductions, et al, and begin the process. That's the best part! It's a process that's exactly like following a recipe! The same good results, year after year. I appreciate that, in a big way. Like many, I'm crunched for time and typically I pretty close to the due date for paying my taxes. So this is the home run to git 'er done! TurboTax. Yeah, I can drag out the process for a couple hours. I futz with the details, tweek here and there...then review it all again. Finally, it's done. But I'm not! I put it all away for at least a day and take another look before I call it fini!! But that's my story, what's yours??
What's great about it: Detailed, On-task, Clearly Stated, Point-to-point
What's not so great: Thought provoking (hey, that's good!), hmmm...
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Great way to develop return and file!

I have used Turbo Tax for over 5 years and the data entry interface continues to get better. This is especially true for more complex tasks like handling K-1 forms. E-file is so much more efficient than mailing in a hard copy of my return.
What's great about it: Efficient and straight forward entry of tax information. Super easy to submit return with e-file.
What's not so great: A mistaken entry can lead to confusing and hard to track down errors..

The programs are easy, Efile is a cinch, its very customer oriented , tries to get the most refund , I have been using it for 5 years and never had a problem
What's great about it: easy to use, simple menus. help availability
What's not so great: people with the same intitials in names will rewrite files and destroy a previous one , saving names should be more unik

I love using Turbo Tax. It guides you through with fairly easy to understand questions. It pays you to have done your up-front work - have your data ready, receipts and forms with info ready, makes the process go much easier. I would totally recommend this product to others.
What's great about it: Walk Thru process excellent, easy to understand guides and help
What's not so great: It's Deductible didn't have several items and getting to how to enter custom item didn't seem as easy
