paying taxes on line was very confusing

did taxes for many years on turbo tax. like the program. this is the first year i had trouble making my tax payments online. state was very hard to do. hope mine went thru on state. not sure i even paid them. seems last year it went right thru on the state.
What's great about it: easy to use turbo tax
What's not so great: very confusing how to pay state taxes on line.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Frankly, this is the last year I am going to use this product. It will be worth the extra $40 to work with a tax professional that is able to understand the forms provided. The most blatant issue this year, for example, are the forms it downloaded from our broker. It complained that there were several items left blank that it thought were required. The downloaded versions were consistent with the paper version provided. TurboTax would not let us file without filling them out and did not provide any guidance for us to determine what to do with the fields given the circumstances. This product only seems to be easy and straight forward if you are in a finite number of use cases. Anything complex and it is incapable of understanding or assisting you in making decisions.
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: This is less helpful every year.

Greatful for Turbotax

I love the product and use it every year. However, this year was more complicated, and found myself feeling like I could have made mistakes. However, I am so grateful for audit defense, which makes me feel more secure, and Turbotax does have people available to ask questions of, which is very helpful.
What's great about it: Being able to file my own taxes
What's not so great: Fear of having made mistakes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Overall, it's a great product and I'll buy it myself next year!
What's great about it: I was traumatized by tax preparation until I got this Turbo Tax as a gift from my Dad. Thanks Dad!!
What's not so great: My laptop broke before I could finish and I had to start completely over with the borrowed laptop.

TurboTax is user friendly

My favorite thing is that it automatically brings in data from last year if you used a major tax prep software!
During the error check, there were forms I didn't need, but it took time to figure out where to delete them. It assumed I would be entering these forms again since I have in previous years, but I didn't have those forms this year, so it created forms with $0 values. Error check kept saying I couldn't move forward without entering values, and it took a while to determine where to go to delete the forms.
What's great about it: User-friendly, brings in last year's data
What's not so great: Some errors can be difficult to clear

Turbo Tax is TREMENDOUS!!!

We have had our taxes done by a professional for the last 30 years. She retired this year so I decided to give TurboTax a try. It was great. I will be even more prepared for next year.
What's great about it: First time user, so easy to follow. Guided me through each step of the way.

This was the first time I used Turbo Tax. I usually pay someone to my taxes for me, but this was getting too expensive. A friend recommended that I try Turbo Tax. I am glad that I did. This program makes filing your taxes easy to do, as well as understand. If you have questions it answers them in terms that we understand. This program makes sure that you review all your answers before they are submitted. I will definitely recommend this program to others. This program rocks!! It actually made filing taxes almost enjoyable.
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to understand
What's not so great: nothing I can think of
