Dependable, Easy

I've used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years. I always feel confident that my tax returns are accurate and complete, even as my tax situations and liabilities have changed over time. From simple times thru kids in college and as a former small business owner, Turbo Tax has guided me thru the labryinths of our tax code. I've never been audited, nor do I worry about being audited, because I know my returns are accurate.
What's great about it: Downloading last years info, easy to use, accuracy review

Better than chocolate ice cream

The program did all that I expected normally, and when I had to pay several hundred dollars it allowed me to try some options which ultimate proved to be the best way to lower my taxes to a refund. Now I can buy several half gallons of chocolate ice cream.
What's great about it: easy to follow and to complete
What's not so great: The charitable items like clothes given did not have a print feature
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My Turbo Experience

I have done my taxes without a tool and with several other products. Turbo Tax is consistently the better tool. It does identify options to increase your refund or reduce what you have to pay even if they are not right for your return.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is my tool of choice from the first I used it. Everything is covered and the questions are easy to interpret
What's not so great: Sometimes you can't get back to change word entries. It is also tricky to modify on the forms.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Terrible experience!
What's not so great: Could not update. Had to save file to a jump drive and put on another computer. What a hassle.

Walks you through all deductions, and provides helpful prices for donated goods, both High Value and Medium Value (for condition). E-files if you wish, and prints full return with back-up data so you can check everything on hard copy before pressing the final e-file button.
What's great about it: Covers just about everything except stock sales...and includes great prices for donated goods.
What's not so great: A bit frustrating if you need to go backward several steps to change entries, but it does allow you to do it.
