Turbo Tax Deluxe 2012

I have used Turbo Tax for over ten years. It has been very straight forward and easy to use. I had a little trouble because this year was the first time I had to enter a Schedule K-1 into my tax return. The most difficult part was realizing that there was a box I had to click to write off the interest I paid for a loan I took out to buy into my investment. I think it should be highlighted since it is a deduction.
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: Was not clear concerning interest paid on loan for investment.

Turbo Tax - Better Than Ever

A few years ago I had reached my "boiling point" with Turbo Tax when struggling with filing a Schedule K-1 as Turbo Tax didn't have any relevant help information to aid me. I ended up consulting a tax professional to help walk me through the completion of my return. I reluctantly went back #in part for the convenience of Turbo Tax having my history# instead of transitioning to another tax return software. In the years since, I feel like Turbo Tax has continued to make great strides in providing relevant help information and making the process more and more streamlined and straightforward. 2012 was my first year with an HSA medical account #making both contributions and distributions#, and Turbo Tax made this component of my return easy to complete. Thanks Turbo Tax for pushing your software further and further ahead -- so count on me to be back -- same time next year!
What's great about it: Easier than ever to use
What's not so great: Still some shortcomings in the state tax application

IRS rejection - conflict w. TurboTax instructions

TurboTax said we could use old IRS PIN for spouse.
Then IRS rejected it and we got a new one, but there was never any way to enter it (using the downloaded app, not the web version). So we had no choice except to use US mail.
They also said don't US mail after E-File - but the E-File was rejected.

A Little shaky this go round

dependent woorksheets kept asking for dependents (in the corrections portion of the tax return). by the time i had finished i had multiple entries of the same dependents. one would think that turbo tax program logic would have prevented this.

What's not so great: dependent worksheets created an endless do-loop

Taxes

In previous years, you could enter individual numbers in most fields (Like property tax) and have turbo tax sum it for you. this was not present this year and I missed it. The forms were very easy to fill out.

What's not so great: Wanted to have ability to enter individual numbers

Disappointed in 2012 Deluxe

I have been using TurboTax for about 10 years now. This year for the first time I was actually disappointed in the experience. I feel that there was not as much description to help select the correct choice. I almost missed a deduction for a depreciated asset which I know I found easily in the 2010 Deluxe version. I had to look at the Federal forms to make sure I was doing the same as last year. I just didn't have the confidence that I have had in the past that my taxes were complete.
What's great about it: Stepping through the different sections
What's not so great: Description of choices was not as helpful as in the past

Filed as a dependent and ended up having to pay taxes, but Turbo Tax definitely made it easy for me. I used Turbo Tax last year as well, and will use it again next year.

Easy and Fast tax process

It took a little over an hour to complete both Federal and State return. The process was eazy and fast because it imported common entry from my 2011 tax return.
What's great about it: Eazy
What's not so great: Cost money for state return E-Filing
