Easy and Fast

I have used Turbo Tax for several years. It has always been easy and fast. This year I was able to import my W2 forms which shortened the data entry portion. For the money, Turbo Tax delivers
What's great about it: Quick and easy to prepare and file my taxes
What's not so great: I am not an accountant

Best I Could Do

Great program and about the easiest possible way to file your tax return in minimal time and pay the man what you have to pay!
What's great about it: Much more user friendly every year -- charitable deductions were streamlined and the carry over information saved time!
What's not so great: I still had to pay the Fed - ugh!

Easy Turbo

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. It is so easy, I love it. Wish it wasn't so expensive. Should be able to file State returns via efile at no charge.

Suggestions for Future Software

had an issue with having to file in two states because my husband works out of state but lives with me in Idaho. Had to call both of the state tax commissions and his company because no one answered our questions on the TurboTax community and there were no similar answers. This was very stressful. Also, have a tax exempt mutual fund but have to claim a percentage on the state taxes. Had to go into the form to override it rather than being able to input. Should be an option on the step-by-step process for us as this has been an issue with us for years.

Easiest Way I've Ever Done My Taxes

I don't know why more people don't do this. I have friends who pay a lot of money for the same service, and sometimes less service!!! I am a big fan of TurboTax...and think everyone should be.

I love the program. It has saved me hours of time. I used to work for days to review applicable tax rules and how they applied to me. Many times I skipped deductions just because I was unsure of whether they applied to me. Turbo Tax takes the guess work out and lets me move through filing my taxes with ease, assurance and a great sense of relief. If you have to pay taxes - then I definitely recommend Turbo Tax as one of the best products on the market for the filer who wants to do so on his own.
What's great about it: Working with Turbo Tax is soooo easy. I love the step by step instructions and information lines for added clarity
What's not so great: I didn't have to pay a tax prepare to do my taxes... awe....

Turbotax gets more frustrating each year

1) Far too many bugs and it gets worse each year. Turbotax has a one glove fits all approach, but for many of us the glove simply doesn't fit. Poorly thought out. What Turbotax should do is not try to change what works, but improve what is not working. A good example is Form 1116. Turbotax personnel should try a whole lot of scenarios to get rid of the bugs. Redoing the whole thing will introduce a lot of new problems. Much of Turbotax is not done intelligently. Needs to be thoroughly tested before going out the door. Should be tested on typical customers with complex returns, not the tax savvy who will miss what is improperly done.
2. Pushing e-filing with misleading statements is condescending.
3) All that aside, TaxCut is worse. I used TaxCut for 10 years before switching to Turbotax about 6 years ago.
