Good program

Have used TurboTax for several years and have been satisfied with its output. One programming change would make entry of stock purchases and sales easier (I couldn't download the data from E-Trade through TurboTax, but E-Trade opened outside of TurboTax with ease). Too many mouse clicks are needed to enter stocks data. After one sale, purchase, etc., set is entered, the program should have a choice of "Enter another set of the same kind" button to prevent all of the time-consuming repeats of the same choices. Also, when doing three or four mouse clicks to pick the choices, the mouse has to moved three times when keeping the target of the cursor at the same spot would make preparers happier.
What's great about it: Very thorough if taxpayer lets the program lead them.
What's not so great: Had to manually find the IRA basis section.

The only way to go...

I have used Turbo Tax as an employee, a businessman and a homeowner. After not filing my taxes for 5 years, it got me money back when a Corporate Tax Attorney said I would have to pay the IRS!
What's great about it: Simple or complex...IT WORKS!
What's not so great: Can't just call someone if you need a quick answer.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy for everyone

Overall Turbo Tax is a quick and easy way to safely and effectively do your own taxes from home, for free. I would recommend Turbo Tax to friends and family.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax checks all possible deductions for you.
What's not so great: Unable to undo a deduction once in place
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Big help

With the exception of getting a printed copy of federal and state returns on the government forms, I had a very satisfactory time doing our taxes with Turbo-Tax this year. There may be a way to access these printed copies, but I couldn't figure it out.
What's great about it: good instructions
What's not so great: I wanted to print copy of returns--the IRS completed forms--not sure how to do that

while entering the payers identification number (on a form) I accidentally moused on the country and was presented with various countries but NO UNITED STATES
VERY IRRITATING and no way to fix it left oc in the country box.. ALL programming should take mismouses into consideration thats baby stuff otherwise well done

Love Turbo Tax

I have been using turbo tax to do my taxes for at least 10 years. It walks you through all possible situations. I don't know what I'd do without it.
What's great about it: It makes doing filing taxes so easy
What's not so great: This years return was smaller (prob not an issue with TT)

Turbo A Go Go

The product has served me well over the last several years. Used in conjunction with "It's Deductible" it makes preparing itemized returns easy. The frequent updates give assurance you have the latest tax rules applied to the return which definitely gives peace of mind. You don't have to be a CPA to use this product.
What's great about it: Easy to use and comprehensive
What's not so great: e-filing fee for state seems a bit steep
