Been using Turbotax for approx. eight years. As effective a means to for doing taxes as I have encountered. It's Deductible is a great tool. Did encounter a problem for the first time. Credit card was not accepted in attempting to pay for state efile. Otherwise, Turbotax is very reliable and has served us well over the years.
What's great about it: Guided data entry, reasonably complete coverage of tax areas
What's not so great: Lesser used areas (e.g. AMT) is too difficult to handle if not an accountant
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I have used TTax for 10 years now. I tried using HR Block software this year but quickly realized the folly in that decision. I am back using TTax and will not consider using anything else.
What's great about it: I like the year over year comparison to catch things missed.

Could not do it without Turbo Tax

2012 Taxes

Because I am self employed in an odd industry, I have a lot of problems with tax professionals who dont understand my industry. Many have never seen a schedule F let alone filled one out. Turbo Tax has all the forms and asks all the necessary questions to make me completely comfortable doing my own taxes with confidence.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions, excellent help menu

OK until Kansas

I've used it many years and e-filed so I like that it brings up most of what I need. However did have problems others reported about the dependant student who earns over 3800. But my real frustration is I fill out two states, preparing Missouri first then Kansas. I had to purchase Kansas separately which was no big deal. However, once I paid, there was no indication that Kansas actually worked. It acted like there was nothing owed or due. I knew that wasn't true. After multiple tries I gave up for the night. The next day Kansas was fine. Then came the Kansas e-file snafu. It imported information for the Kansas worksheet from the federal and then didn't like it. Told me to remove and put back. Twice I did it and didn't work. Went to the help site, two months ago the problem reported. The answer, remove and redo. That didn't work. I also consider it irresponsible that a problem acknowleddged two months ago wasn't fixed. Finally, I removed the information from the kansas form and did not put it back in, That appears to have worked. Really dissappointed with the Kansas part of this.
What's great about it: I've used it for years, mostly without problem
What's not so great: Kansas filing was frustrating

Why charge for state e-filing?

Good product, but now I understand why printing is tricky--so you can convince me that e-filing is worth the fee. Otherwise I trust and like your product.
What's great about it: Good that it uses last year's info, saves keying in details.
What's not so great: Never can quite convince it to print without going back several times.

Easy and Efficient

We have been using Turbo Tax for several years and have never considered any other method for filing taxes. It's great to be able to start the process and continue to modify and review the data until we are certain all information is accurate. E-filing is painless and efficient.
What's great about it: Great explanations and lots of opportunities for review.
What's not so great: Nothing
