Turbo Tax Review

The best tax program I have used for my tax situation. This includes: Income from multiple sources, Stock purchases and sales, k-1 forms from MLP's, and IRA conversions to Roth IRAs. I like the way the program can automatically import the data from last years returns. It saves me a lot of typing, since, I only have to correct changes from one year to the next. One thing that was not in this years version was the comparative analysis with other peoples returns for deductions, maximum tax rate that I am paying, and ways to save on next years taxes.
What's great about it: It covered all my tax forms and answered all my questions in a clear and understandable way.
What's not so great: Did not like the method used to switch between Turbo Tax program and the Federal Forms. Last year was better.

Really Simple

This was my first time using TurboTax and I found it to be more user friendly and quick than anything else I tried. I recommend this program to anyone.

What's great about it: Help when you need it, just enter an go.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

If you have all of your paperwork needed for a return, the return can be completed in a matter of a couple of hours. The review at the end will pick up things that you may have missed. This is a program that a person that knows nothing about taxes can complete accurately.

I have used TT for a number of years for my personal tax prep. I know that the system is complete and up to date for the average tax paying American. (Even when the local news media attempted to make a headline out of some issue with tax preparation software where they mentioned TT by name). I know that it is important to pay the correct amount of tax, not any more or any less than is my obligation to my State and Federal government. I feel that TT does this for me.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax (TT) uses last year's info, overall thoroughness
What's not so great: Some concern over local "news" announcement that TT was faulty

Saved me hours of time

I have a fairly complicated return - W-2, pension, social security, RMD, investments, bank accounts. There is no way I could have prepared my return without the help of TurboTax, Things have just gotten too complicated. In particular, the ability to directly import investment data to all the of the required forms saved me hours of going through paper statements to figure out what data went where. I will admit that I didn't understand every form and entry that TurboTax created but I trusted that it was correct. TT saved me a large CPA fee.
What's great about it: Import of investment data was great
What's not so great: No particular gripes
