I have used it before, and I liked it. It seemed improved this year. Very happy with it and my refunds. I would recommend it to anyone,
What's great about it: Easy to understand and follow
What's not so great: Sale of shares a little confusing, because all information wasn't on paperwork from company
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very glad that there weren't any software installation issues like last year. Thank you for working that out. Just flew through my college aged daughters return. Wish ours was that simple! But Turbo Tax at least makes it easy!
What's not so great: I don't like the long list you get after you go through each income or deduction segment.

Quick and Easy Process

Turbotax is very thorough and very easy to use. All of the ridiculous questions about foreign investments aside, the things that the majority of us encounter are all there. On the wishlist - eventually, the programmers will be required to use the product (unless they are all in India), and then the cumbersome elements will be very quickly eliminated. For instance, after completing a section, the screen returns to the top of the section list while the "continue" button is at the bottom... several screens away: awkward!
And it would be helpful to indicate whether a deduction section was for "itemization" and might be unnecessary if the standard deduction was not surpassed.
Anyway, the whole process, from the beginning to end (refund direct deposited in my checking account) could not be much quicker.
What's great about it: Much Improved navigation
What's not so great: Still some awkward moments... after all these years

Changing vehicle info for business is confusing.
on February 14, 2013

Reporting a change of vehicle I use in my business was not a smooth process. I traded one vehicle and purchased another. Asking if a vehicle was traded should be at the very beginning of vehicle information where it asks if I own, lease, or "this is not my vehicle." Adding the option of "did you trade this vehicle?" to this set of questions and moving forward with the new vehicle information and traded vehicles depreciation value from this point makes much more sense and would be much easier to understand than going through the entire act of expense reporting and then being asked if the vehicle was traded. From there I had to go back to the beginning of vehicle information and "add a vehicle" to report the new one.
After noting the first vehicle had been traded the program then considered that vehicle as having not been used for business the entire year rather than having had been used until August when the new one was purchased. And then asked if it was used for personal use instead. No, I traded it!
This area of the program really needs a lot of attention!
What's great about it: Easy to navigate. Consistently shows last years numbers for comparison.
What's not so great: Review of return asks, "Was this income from a 401(k), etc." without detailing person or amount associated. Guess!!

Done It Early

TurboTax has always brought up topics that I would never have thought of and have never had mentioned to me by other "tax experts". Other than that I thought the expanations could have been a little more indepth and clearer for a novice like me.
What's great about it: More topics.
What's not so great: Explanations
