Pretty easy

TurboTax is a good interface for filing taxes. While I didn't find everything there that I needed, calling help was quick and easy. Overall I recommend.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good explanations, help was good
What's not so great: doesn't cover every situation

A Trusted Option to High Cost Tax Prep

I've been using Turbo Tax for over five years. I have found nothing that provides the easy step by step walk through logical questions resulting in all the necessary forms, at such a reasonable price. In addition to our own taxes, I do my mother's taxes and this year will be helping my son as he uses Turbo Tax for the first time for his own tax reporting.
What's great about it: Step by step questions with links to more detailed help when necessary.
What's not so great: Upsell options increase as you near the end, but nothing tricky.

Worked well for me, multiple homes and marriage

Worked well for me this year, had home purchase and two other homes that came in marriage. Was able to deduct correctly but had to read the details. Better to list address for mortgage interest and property taxes so it could flag more than two addresses and walk you through it. This would help in this case which is not normal but still in todays world, more couples come into marriage with two homes and may buy another for themselves.
Overall I had no real issues and it once again did a great job of finding the best deductions and maximizing my return.
What's great about it: Easy to rujn through the whole process, step by step
What's not so great: The information for some things such as multiple homes was in extra detail, would be better to catch it in the process

Another good year

I don't have a complicated life and this works well. The old information gets down loaded, I make few changes and updates and get walked through the rest. It's simple, it's relatively painless, and everything gets sent directly to my bank. If we have to pay taxes, at least it can be easy.
What's great about it: Last year's stuff goes right into the return, no hassle
What's not so great: None really, it's quick and easy.

I've been using this product for years and I'll use it again next year. I like that I can see the forms if I want, at the click of a button. The explanations are good and easy to get to. Love that there's a person to chat with if I need help as well.
What's great about it: easy to navigate
What's not so great: doesn't remember where I was like I thought it used to
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax 2012 Taxes from Start to Finish

For Several years I have used Turbo Tax to complete my tax forms. Turbo Tax eliminates the need for hard copy books and forms. I don't need to worry if I picked up the right form, Turbo Tax has me covered. All I need to do is keep my documents, organize them, then enter the information as it walks me through step by step. Outside of hiring an overpriced accountant, it does not get any easier. In fact, if I had an overpriced accountant, he would probably be writing this review! Thanks Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: This software expertly walks you through your taxes with confidence
What's not so great: I didn't think of it first

Complicated Mess Made Easy

Between good record keeping by my wife using Quicken software and the automated downloads that TurboTax makes from my broker/financial advisor, my IRRA custodian, and my bond position manager directly into my return, the whole 1040 preparation folds into a couple of hours.
AND, the math is always correct. I used to make at least a couple of math errors every year (the IRS probably thought I was too stupid to try to cheat -- so maybe that was a good thing).
The only improvement that I could suggest is adding the ability to attach a statement. For example, Hurricane Ike hit us for about $20,000 of damage. We had a full recovery from our insurance, but the work spanned across three tax years, and payments didn't match up with expenditures; pre-damage values had to be estimates; etc. No program could possibly anticipate all the variations, so I had to trick TurboTax into giving the right number by inserting basically false data and then I attached a statement telling IRS exactly how I had done it. That was really pretty straight forward but it did mean that I could not electronically file.
I've used Turbo Tax since the mid '90s -- I can't imagine doing without.
(Did I mention that I was a tax lawyer, now retired from a major East Coast law firm? Here's my unsolicited free advice: Don't pay my fees -- use Turbo Tax instead.)
What's great about it: Automated downloads from my financial institutions is simply THE BEST
What's not so great: None, really.
