Only way to go

Imports last year's info so you don't have to start from scratch each time. makes a painful process bearable.

So Easy!

Very helpful! Gathering your papers is the longest part of the process. I like that Turbo Tax does all the math checks. It also pulls in your information from last year, making it so easy to see if you've missed something that you deducted the year before.
What's great about it: Simplifies the tax filing process and walks you through everything step by step. Easy to go back and correct entries
What's not so great: Liked it all!

Best $60 I spent this year!

Overall I am thrilled with the outcome. I've had a professional CPA doing my taxes for 10 years, but needed to save money this year so bought Turbo Tax instead. Our taxes are fairly simple: married, filing jointly, one child, mortgage, some outside income for consulting. But no major investments with capital gains or unusual credits or deductions. So after I went through the "guided" entries, I was easily able to compare my entries with last year's return. I really liked having the pop-up windows for additional information. The only problem I had was when I tried to revise info entered for 1099-MISC; for some reason it didn't want to let me go back to the basics--I had to delete and re-do it. Overall I would rate this a 9 out of 10.
What's great about it: Huge improvement from the old version
What's not so great: Difficult to change a couple of fields

Good and bad notice

My major complaint is the surprise fees for an extra state return and the charge to e-file it. Thee kinds of charges should be set up upfront.
Also, last year the refund I received didn't exactly match what I filed for. So something didn't go exactly right. Note the differences between what I filed as my state refund for 2012 and what we put up as my state refund for 2011.
What's great about it: Mostly pros -- had no major trouble, a few stumbling blocks that were manageable
What's not so great: Some small mistakes in intsructions
